Well what do you know; learn something new every day! I went out & looked at the hitch on my 69, it says V5 too.

I learned the hard way a while ago. Went to look at a hitch that the guy said he took of a Ford. I just saw the same V5 sticker on it that my other one had so I thought they were the same...wrong
The $20 hitch is still sitting along the garage wall. Turned out to be from an Aerostar.

What you don't like how low mine hangs

At one point it was lower and I flipped the cross bar but that is as high as it will go with out some big changes.

Hitch looks good, is that grade 8 hardware you used?

I've got a class 3 hitch that I took off an 86 F150. Was going to use it on my 95 but, it hits the step bumper.
I was going to say something about "hanging low" but, it's Sunday.

Yeah Dave if you had a styleside bumper that would come right underneath it, but yeah there is no way to raise that! Grade 8 for everything (those 2 center bolts are not but they were just there to hold it in place while I was getting started, I need to swing by hardware store and grab 2 more bolts some time this week).

GLR what are the dimensions on that Aerostar hitch? Maybe we can switch useless hitches and each find something we can work with. I'd like to make up some sort of front hitch for my 69 F100.

Inside measurement, 39 in. Center to center bolt holes 37-1/4 in.

I'm quite a distance from the city area Shawn - Finger lakes near Watkins Glen. Think there's 33 cases in the county up there, 1 death.
We just found out the county here in VA (Patrick) has 3 cases.

Hope you're staying safe.
Grand daughter was to get married near the end of may in New Hill. That's cancelled. They are now going to have a 10 person wedding in Daughter's backyard and reception (Maybe in July.

staying safe ??? lol your funny... lol im a sacrificial employee that has to deal with the public all day lol.. theres nothing safe about it lol...

Metal rescue did a great job at cleaning out the tank. (especially since i left it in there for a month) But still got some trash in there. Was originally pouring it back through paint filters. But the small bits kept getting through. So i put a coffee filter inside the paint filter to catch the fine bits.

Looks like good stuff, Shawn. Wonder how electrolysis would work? Or muriatic acid?
Well, still stay safe working with the public

others have done it... downside with both those if your not careful you can eat your way through the steel... especially if you dont get the acid neutralized.... other downside is you also run into a problem of flash rusting too... with the Metal Rescue it has a rust inhibitor in it to prevent the metal from flash rusting...

i did a mix of steel BB's and the Metal rescue... The BB's knocked all the loose rust off and the Metal Rescue ate the rust but leave the underlying steel intact... but its not a fast process either... im guessing mine was either moderately rusted or heavily rusted inside... (to me it looked lightly rusted which should have taken 2 hrs but took longer... heavy was supposed to take 24 hrs but took longer than that)... most was gone after a week... but i ended up letting it sit for a month to really get it done... one difference i noticed though was the full strength bottle seemed to do a better job than the concentrated bottles i got for the 2nd fill... when i filled it the first time i had only bought a single gallon of the full strength thinking itd be enough... which seemed to work faster and better.... when i swapped out the stuff in the tank with new stuff i bought the concentrated bottles (they were a few bucks cheaper ntm easier to find)... i mixed them with distilled water even though the directions didnt call for it but didnt want the other chemicals in tap water in there or to mess with the stuff... after a week it didnt seem like it did much for i ended up leaving it for a month... not intentionally though... i got busy with work and didnt feel like working on it on my days off...

I was soaking some Hoosier Cabinet parts in acid (phosphoric) forgot about them, They disappeared.
I put an alloy wheel in some muriatic to see if it would do anything with the corrosion ....good thing it was a junk wheel as the acid started eating the aluminum

On the upside: Wally had TP today

I saw somewhere that Charmin isn't too good for septic systems as it doesn't break down very well.
