Dave this was early 2019, a little over a year ago. My mechanic has always done right by me and I'm not gonna throw him under the bus yet. His shop is in Benson right where Raleigh Rd meets 301, kinda catty-corner from the High School. I'm thinking his brother did this. My mechanic is Larry and his brother is Daryl, that reminds me of the Bob Newhart show in the 80's! I could be wrong but I want to mention it to him next time I am over at his shop.
It's all good,
I go a dealer in Lillington that has done me right so far and will work on anything. I don't think I would take the F100 to them for work other than oil change if I was not to do it like I did the last time.
I also trust a shop on 50 & Pleasant Mt. and may take the F100 to them if I really had to. I have seen some older cars & trucks in there. It's who I got my tires thru for the F100 & wife's Subie.
He also knew what front end I had in the F100, what could be and not be done in his shop when I wanted them to do an ailinement, They waited for me to go get the truck and did it while I waited and watched, cool bunch of guys.

The actual fuel spec is 39psi by Polaris. That's as much as I could get it to go, after cycling the key 6 times.
Also did a compression test, right side has 50psi and left side 75psi. Polaris spec is 150-200psi. So I started breaking it down to get the engine out. Plan to get it the rest of the way out tomorrow hopefully. Then tear it down and see exactly how far I have to go. Buddy of mine is being hopeful that I could get away with just rings but I doubt it. I'm betting on at least pistons, in which case I'll be going either Wiseco or JE pistons, and will be bumping compression just a little. If I've got to do the jug also, I've been eyeballing the 820 big bore kit. It it about $75 more than the factory size piston/jug.

It's the same way with racing right, "fun till it got expensive".

So looks like it stuck the rings when it went under. Good news is there is still visibly cross hatching on the cylinder walls, and measuring as best I can with my micrometer the jug is okay. Ordered a set of pistons and rings, as well as a gasket kit. Also got a new fuel pump, injectors, injector pig tails/harness, and spark plug wires in route. For some reason polaris thought it was a good idea to glue the plugs to the injectors. Anyways, will probably clean the head up some tomorrow or some time during the week. Then hopefully my stuff will be in by next weekend so I can start reassembly.
Today I broke down the head, cleaned up the valves, combustion chamber/mating surface. Need to snag some more brake clean so I can finish cleaning up the runner's and valve area, as well as valve cover. Head and valves cleaned up nicely though.
I helped Wesley get the f250 aligned. After seeing how easily it was adjusted, really makes me question why so many shops I went to wouldn't correct the camber on this thing, including Ford techs. Drives pretty sweet now. Honestly much lighter steering than my Sport Trac. Recovered his ATV seat for helping me with it.
Ordered some torsion bar leveling keys for the sport Trac, doesn't quite sit how I want it to. Found an intake air leak, fixed that and the mpg was a little under 17 last week commuting.
Got the chainsaw running perfectly, just need to get some gaskets so it'll quit marking it's territory wherever it sits and sharpen or replace the chain.
My pistons showed up Thursday, and valve seals showed up today. So I checked/filled rings last night and started assembly today.
Waiting on valve cover gasket to show up now, then itll be officially back in one piece. Probably hold off putting it back in the frame for now. Also little confused why a top end gasket kit wouldn't come with valve seals, or valve cover gaskets.
