Now this is a GREAT update. Glad to hear. Brakes touchy? Steve will know about this but from memory I think he said a too small I.D M/C will cause that.
I have never built one that I didn't have a few bugs to work out. You have sure got it looking good. Looking at your picture's as got me wanting to start my 4x4, but I guess it's going to have to wait it's turn.
Thanks Randle!

nothing you cant fix, great looking toy!!!
except the gears, that will take time & lots of money to switch but is it really worth it?
The gears will get fixed if I put in a diesel.

I didn't think about the piston size.....that could be it. The next time I take it for a drive I'll disconnect the vacuum line and see if that helps.
Looking 'Capitol' amigo, to use a dated term. I am loving the stance. 2X on the mud flaps, as like yours, my tires chuck rocks, dirt, mud, and cow flops in the road. I usually spend from 15 to 20 minutes hosing the underside after an outing. That is, until I put on some mud flaps. My tires are MT 325x70x17, so I had to sculpt some Semi-truck flaps to extend a bit beyond my fenders. I used 1" stainless steel square tubing to mount them too. I will post photos after I return to Baja after the holidays.
Don't forget, like I did, that the frame is designed to flex, so the mud flap mount must also. Kind of like hanging a muffler & tailpipe, it needs to flex.. I am interested to see how you do it, as we have similar trucks & tires.
Dammit, you're my HERO. I'd rep you but I gotta spread the love first.
Man, that is saaweet.
Back about 20 sum years ago there was a fellow running around town in one very similar. Thinking it had bigger tires/more lift, back then there were some seriously tall trucks running around(before the bumper law hit bad). I had my 2wd hot rod, but loved the 4x4's too. My buddy in HS had a '76 Suburban 4x4 with 4" axle, 3" body lift and 38's. It was bigger then a freak'n school bus.. With a 400, headers, thrush glasspacks and 10ft pipe out the back you could hear it coming from miles away.
Still want one, someday. I know they handle like my Mack though. Nothing smooth and easy about them.
Looking good Gavin, It's really nice to see you have it out and driving it.
It's a blast to drive, I miss grinding gears!

Thanks buddy! The air bags are nice, they let me tweak the stance.

Thanks for the mud flat ideas. I haven't even thought about how I was going to mount them. Have a safe trip!

Gavin, the truck just looks absolutely fantastic! You, my friend, are an inspiration to those of us in mid-build!! Nice work, buddy!!
Good Point Pat. And an inspiration for all those out there googling because they don't know yet whether to buy a Bump or a Dent.
Gavin, You and this Highboy waive the Bump banner very well!
Gavin,
That is a awesome truck. I read most of the entire thread! In my travels I will keep the bumpside in mind. I had a early 70's bumpside as my first truck. Two wheel drive, six with three on the tree. I was pretty proud of that Ford. Life goes on and by and you forget some of those things. Guess I will have to dig up a picture. Thank you for taking the time to post all the great pictures.
Regards,
Chris
