I got all the pieces cut and cleaned up for the tailpipe.
The advice I got really helped.
Not going to mention his name but his initials are Randle.....oops.
Wow...very nice work. I really, really need to get a TIG for the garage. I have access to stuff at work but the tungsten is all 3/16" and you CAN'T do delicate work very easily with it. We weld BIG stuff and don't carry anything small(including the torch).
Of course the fact I'm going blind isn't helping. Buddy has a magnifying lense for his helmet so I might need to get something to help focus better. I really hate welding my hand to the part because I can't see where I'm going....
Thanks Gary! I do okay on flat, straight welds but the pipe was a little more challenging.

Thanks Pat, I got really lucky, a local machine/welding shop closed about 15 years ago and I got a pretty good deal on my TIG.

3/16" WOW! That's a chunk of tungsten!
I've been using Elvex full lens maginifer safety glasses in +1.00, +1.50 and +2.00 for about 8 months now and I really like them.
Fantastic work. I'm going to look into some kind of glasses(well I do wear some for driving, but not for anything else. My CDL says I have to)
Weld table...........LOL!!! My "weld table"? Usually my fold up engine crane and a pair of vise grips. I clamp it to one of the legs which holds the part while I weld LOL!!
While I was fab'n up my pipe work last Sunday...
Cutting and pasting some 3 1/2" and 4" pipe for my intake. Would have loved to do aluminum(not happening), stainless would be nice(didn't want to have to go to work to TIG it), so I mig'd some steel tubing. Yup, using my floor jack as a "weld table". I stuck the pipe over the handle to hold it and welded around....
Some kind of metal looking paint will finish it off. Some times I wish I was more OCD(like my friend), but I don't have the patience. My favorite line..."good enough for who it's for".
