Are all you boys, who are North of the Mason-Dixon line, shoveling snow today? Watching the news today, I realize why very few people have been heard saying "I am going to retire and move up North".. My wife is baking all sorts of Christmas Cookies, so you all drop by, after you shovel yourselves out.
Lets see some photos of your truck in the snow Gavin.. I remember going up in the mountains in Ca to get a Christmas tree, and pushing that powdered water until it came over the hood... Eventually it stopped us... but the kids loved it..

I use a couple pieces of extruded aluminum to do the alignment. I worked very well.

That is a awesome truck. I read most of the entire thread! In my travels I will keep the bumpside in mind. I had a early 70's bumpside as my first truck. Two wheel drive, six with three on the tree. I was pretty proud of that Ford. Life goes on and by and you forget some of those things. Guess I will have to dig up a picture. Thank you for taking the time to post all the great pictures.

We just got a dusting Monday morning. I kinda have it parked for the winter. I even stuck the Hon-duh in the bed to gain a little floor space.


The wheels are off so I could adjust the wheel bearings and snug up the u-bolts. I also was to keep from flat spotting the tires.

wonder if they sell 'clip on' rock flaps that you can pop off when its parked, Hummmm

In a regular incandescent bulb application, the incandescent bulbs put a fair amount of load (current draw) on the flasher relay. This current load heats up the bi-metalic reed switch in the relay. This makes the reed move over and close the contacts, which illuminates the blinker filament in the bulb. The switch cools off, opens, heats back up, closes the contacts again, lights the bulb again and so on.

LEDs have a much lower current draw than an incandescent bulb. Without an added load (resistance) on the circuit and on the blinker relay, it will make the reed switch open and close at a much faster rate. This is known a 'hyper flashing' where the blinkers will flash at a very rapid rate.

If you're using LEDs with a blinker relay meant for incandescent bulbs, you would have to install blast resistors to 'load' the circuit, so the relay will blink at a normal rate.







If the amperage draw is reduced due to using led bulbs, the flasher should flash slower due to the longer time required to heat up the relay coil. Help me understand this.

By the way, I like the fact that you went "unconventional" with using a single exhaust pipe. My 69 F-250 camper special with the auxiliary fuel tank leaves no room for a left side pipe.

Like the homemade alignment rig. I'll have to do something similar, mine was just eyeballed, and figured out its off, it was a PITA to push around!

Nice job with the alignment tools... and I am way jealous of your disc brakes. My drums are new, shoes are new, MC is new, but they are really just "Slow Downs" when compared to disc brakes. I can only dream about converting my '68 44HD to discs. I hate to ask, but was it pricey?

That aligns the front wheels but are they inline with the back wheels? (dogtracking)
but thats fine for now unless you see tire wear huh
maybe I'm just crazy

That 2x4 is gonna make it hard to align.

The kit is for a big ball closed knuckle Dana 60. The axle is from a '73-'75 F250 crew cab. It was $535, that included the adapter plates, calipers, pads, rotors and shipping. I got it from Blackbirds Custom Trucks, but the guy no longer sells on line. He does local business only now, he's located in Spokane, WA. There was some machining I had to do on my hubs to get the rotors to fit. The kit used 2002 Dodge 2500 rear calipers and Raybestos 7023 rotors.

I didn't have the front wheels turned straight in that pic. It does look funny.

It is comfy, but I've never fallen asleep in it........as far as you know.

Just out of curiosity, why does your '70 F250 have the '67-'69 Ranger script lettering on the bed sides (instead of the Ranger block lettering found on the '70-'72 models), narrow beltline trim and, there are no red side marker lights on the bed corners?

'67-'69 Ranger bed script.



'70-'72 Ranger block lettering. --if not a Ranger XLT, the XLT wouldn't appear after the Ranger emblem.



The truck looks really good. I was just wondering why the differences?
