The heater core on my 84 did the same thing, no warning and out of the blue.
Instant gusher. Usually you get the.... hey whats that haze on the inside of the windshield....... LOL
Thanks Tim! I wish it would stop raining.

I will get some more pictures of the Mack posted later.
I bet the whole dash on the F150 prolly has to come out.

FT, hanging out in my shop is a near perfect Mack nameplate in the old chrome script if you'd like it. Price is right..Free. I will post photos, after I get home to Baja.
Russ
Thanks for the offer Russ.
The new AC unit I'm getting for the F100 already has a heater core. It's gonna be the same unit Randle is using in his truck.
This stuff here is way COOL. 1st, sorry to see your rig had a "growing pain" but liked the 1st drive. Super happy for you Bud.
And Train.... Super COOL ol' Mack. I personally Love History. Including old big rigs. A few months back when I was still working I tried to buy a 48 I think it was Reo. Auction went past my limit. Bummer.
Ya, they put the sled up on the race track surface and we just pulled it for the fun. If it was in the real dirt the old girl would not have gone that far.
This is what the truck looked like about an hour after the mishap while I was in line for the truck wash. Took a pretty good hit, but like I said I was really lucky and didn't hit anything else(poles, cars, etc). I was only going about 35 mph, just tapped the brake pedal and the rear axle instantly locked up and it just came around on me. It was a real "pucker" moment. In 15 yrs this is the first time I've had a bad day with it. A local driver was behind me and said "you have to watch it gets really slippery around here when it rains". Ya think? The oil on the road was bad since this was a real gully washer after a dry spell.
When I got to the show I was really not in a good mood. Then time came for the picture for the book and they wanted the passenger side. I asked the photographer if I could turn around. He smiled and said, "sure".
I reskinned the trailer so it is back to "normal as it can be". I cut the back of the bunk out of it over the winter as I planned to rebuilt it(I have the technology--well my buddy works at a fab shop). We got some of it done but my friend hurt his hand and is off work so it came to a halt. I couldn't make the trip with it cut apart.
I'm glad you were able to get the old core out easier than you thought. With your skills and knowledge, I'm not sure why you thought otherwise. Good job buddy. I'm looking forward to more pics and vids of this AWESOME Highboy!
I had to replace the core in our '79 many years ago. It didn't completely suck, since we didn't have a/c, but it wasn't exactly pleasant either. It originally started leaking in summer, so I bypassed it by connecting the inlet and outlet hoses together at the firewall. Once it started getting cold and my windshield washer fluid froze into a solid sheet of ice while driving down the freeway, I figured that was a hint to get off my **** and get it done! Your truck is looking great Gavin!

Thanks Jeff! The brand new Standard coolant sensor wasn't working so I got a chance to change that and I'm also going to get a new radiator too. The inside of this one looks like it's growing barnacles.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I lived in Tampa for 12 years, every time it would rain after a dry spell the asphalt would be slicker than snot. I hope you can get her fixed up soon.

That is one heck of a Mack, Freightrain!
Thanks Andre! I think Murphy took the night off when I pulled the core out.

Hi Doug! Hummmmm, putting things off until they absolutely have to be done..........sounds like me.
I talked to Gavin a few days ago, and he suggested using a table like this when I told him about a job I needed to do on my 92. Let me tell you it is a back saver. It made what would have been a miserable job easy. Thanks again for sharing Gavin.

No, I'm not asleep.
When doing mine, I took the seats out... was sure easier... but I like the work bench idea... oh my aching back, skinned knuckles, and dust in my face. Where did those spider webs come from? And, what are they living on under there??
