The dog leg is a tough sucker to do. You did good. I have to do mine in a couple of weeks.
I saw that other thread and thought, crap, I could've bought the piece and welded it in. I felt better after reading it and realizing it was for a pickup and he had to modify it. It would probably be a good starting point though. Most of the curves are there.
Nuts for the running board brackets welded on. Cleaned up and ready for Rust Encapsulator. This is what I'm using. The front will get epoxy primer. It seems pretty tough. I was scuffing the old paint and got to a spot that had Encapsulator on it. It resists abrasion very well. Here I was marking the rocker for the brackets.
The Eastwood rust encapsulator is good stuff. I am using it on mine also. Just did my axles in it. They should put a better warning on the can though, if you get any of it on your skin and it dries-it ain't coming off! Good for the truck back for me.

Yeah, that stuff stays on a good week. I've learned to wear gloves and long sleeve shirts 😂
Thank you! It's turning out pretty good. I struggle between wanting to do a better job and reminding myself how rusty it is and how much time I invest. I'll hopefully have more pictures later today or in the morning.
Thanks! I can't wait to get the other side done. We thought about blacking out the grill, but it looks good chrome. We'll see how it looks when it's all together, I can paint it black later if we want. The biggest thing we don't like is the hole in the center of the bumper. It needs a screen or cover or something. Any ideas?
Looking good!
Get a set of the factory fog lights, they take up some of that bumper opening room and make it less of a "hole". Or find a nice cheap LED mini bar that will completely fill the space.
