Nicely done! I need to go back through the entire thread from the beginning. You'll dig those procomp springs. Mine ride really well and I haven't missed my rear sway bar at all as of yet. I have not towed anything yet, but with what I'm pulling, I can't see an issue.
Thanks! I can't wait to get to drive it again. I'm happy to hear you like the procomps. I hated the ride before.
3 coats of surfacer. Tech sheet says you can sand after 1 1/2 hours. You can but the sand paper loads up really quick. It's better to leave it dry overnight.
So I blocked it out again. I used more hard blocks and did a better job. I found more high and low spots. I wish I had done that starting with the filler on top of the epoxy. I didn't take any pictures. I tapped one high spot down and filled it along with a few other spots. Sure looks easier when a professional is doing it on a DVD 😂. So I sprayed another 2 coats of surfacer on it.
7th coat of surfacer.
So I'm caught up with the pictures to where I am on the project 😁. I did sand it again today. I think I'll be able to get to 500 grit without respraying it. I'd like to fit the new bumper and valance panels. We might black out everything but the grill. We'd like to get it all painted at the same time. I'll get some pictures tomorrow.
I took video of the project. Does anyone have suggestions for a video editing program? I don't have a clue where to start.
Bushwhacker fender flares. Need to raise the header panel up a little bit. Eventually going to need lower gears, bigger tires, and maybe a Truetrac. Planning to paint everything but the grill. What do you guys think?
Shiny! I think it’ll look pretty darn good! I’m not a flare guy, but those look good as well. Are you planning on painting the entire X? Or will you match the hood and fenders to the rest? I just started watching videos today on replacing door bottoms, blocking them out with filler and then using the rage evercoat as a finish filler. It’s a lot of work for sure! I’m pretty concerned I won’t be able to get the paint to match and I’ll want to paint the whole X. I’m thinking that’s a bad idea in the driveway, but I need to get what little rust I have gone now, lest it get much worse.
