1) What do you all think about swapping in an expedition console instead of trying to make a complete one from scratch or shelling out the major cash for an SD one? I can obviously make all the measurements and hell even test fit once i figure out how to remove the one in my Expy. I could make a few filler pieces instead and fill the gaps where there might be some. I figured this will allow me to use my Mustang shifter since the hole is the same dimensions as the expy one and i can easily have space for my fuse panel to make a door on the side to access it if need be. My thoughts are it is a solid base to go off of for much cheaper than an SD console which i still may even have to modify some to get to work properly. Thoughts on this???

A custom one will be nicer however if the expy one looks good then go for it. I forgot what color interior do you have?

2) this might be kinda stupid but once i convert to two batteries for the 12v i will ikely run optima's since the destroked try is cut out for them and they have an issue when drained so if i am going to run a trickle charger on it then how to i hook it up? and does it charge both? I want to get a permanent mounted battery tender so when i store it in the winter i can just plug right in with an extension cord, are there any recommendations?
I am not 100% on this so you may want to wait on Jeremys or somebody elses opinion but if you just hook it straight up and unplug when needed. I am not sure how to get it to charge both batteries. Both my bikes just have a cord off it that I plug the charger into and a cord to the charger and that's all I do.

I'd need pictures to give input on the center console.

As for the batteries, in off road setups, the batteries are isolated with a solenoid, and the solenoid alternates which one is running the engine and receiving charge. I believe in a diesel, the are just connected in parallel. This keeps you at 12 volt, but you have double the cold cranking capacity. So in your diesel setup, hooking jumper cables to one battery is the same as connecting to both.

As for winter storage, I believe you could do it 2 ways. You could disconnect one battery and put a tender on it and leave the other connected to the truck and put a separate tender on it. I'd use this one: 022-0165-DL-WH

OR

You could just leave everything connected and hook up one larger battery tender. I'd go with this one: Battery Tender® 5A Power Tender Series High Efficiency

I would not recommend the Junior model. It works great for small batteries, but it is not ideal for a battery as large as a car battery.

Awesome thanks Jeremy! I will probably go with keeping the batteries connected and using the second one you posted up.

As fro the console below is a pic that i found on Google that i felt suited the profile well. My plan was to basically make a filler piece for the sides and then if there is a gap on the top par then there as well and i would make a door on the side for the fuse panel. The shifter i got fits right in there with no issues since the base is identical to all of fords floor shifters with a rectangle base lol.

No prob.

I like that console. It looks like it would be nice in your, but I'd have to see it in the truck to be certain. I think a test fit will be in order.... Start ripping the Expy apart :-)

Haha i agree about the test fit i was planning on reusing the 08 console mounts because the 08 console is going to go in the F150 once i swap it out. I will take a few measurements from the Expy before i make a move on anything, i think it will match nicely because the Expy and 08+ dashes are similar in design.

She is eventually going to realize she can't win lmao.

I am under close watch with the wedding rapidly approaching. I have to get her wedding band yet, and other than that I am just sacking away cash for all the crap I have to pay for lmao.

After that, I want to add more insulation to the house and then I should be back in vehicle land.

That looks like the console in the new 10 f150 minus it has wood grain not silver trim since it is a lariat.

I wouldn't tell to many people you might be breaking through. They are going to start wondering how you did it.

Lol yeah she is letting me go free probably because i will have to pay the first few school loan bills she gets until she can get on her feet and on top of that i currently am the only one who makes enough to save money for the wedding. She makes enough to cover what she needs while she is in school which is perfect but her loans are going to be $1100ish per month for 20 years after she graduates good thing though is since i am putting so much away for her she is letting me spend what i want on my car parts within reason lol.

Wanted to post another on topic posy i thought might be somewhat educational lol.

I am going to ppuml my 92 motor because it looks incredibly easu compated tknolder motors. In 92 they swotched to a 7mm head which is what yhe 94-98.5 motors have which means i could reuse stock injectors butnobviously i will bw getting new ones aside from that all i need is to get the 94 timing cover case and the pump, pump gear and ppump injwctpr lines. I found all that on ebay and it will cost roughly 300-500 depending on who you get it from. Obviously the pump is the expensive part but i might buy a mildly turned up one kr stick to a stock rebuilt i will see what has more of a bang for the buck once i research it.

Edit: quick google puts a new one at about $850 and reman one at about $650 a turned up one goes for like $1400-$2500 lol ill go new i guess and tune it myself.

Took some pics of the allison today, i really need to get an engine stand and make an adapter plate to hold it if i am going to work on it. She definitely has a small gasket leak like trav said. I will be replacing the pan with a deep pan anyway though.

What do you guys think is a better idea for bed supports? I was originally going to go steel stock but then i thought about aluminuk but will it be strong enough? I was going to internal coat and por the new supports though and make them removable in the event that j need to change them again so steel sounds better maybe because it is stronger and still replacable.

Console looks like a cool idea. However I do like the Super Duty Consoles as is. Gives a nice OEM+ touch.

For the transmission why are you putting a deep pan on? Mark K has stated several times more fluid is only more fluid and not really necessary.

Yesh its just the SD consoles go for 800-2k on average and i think obe of these should match well and fits my shifter and everything stock.

I know, i read that the deep pan is better for the allison with high hp trucks although i personally dont really believe it i may just clean this one up and paint it black. I will do more searching to verify it completely but i do believe mark..after all he worked as an engineer on transmissions lol.

Thought you already had a 08+ console.

Maybe look into a 6.0l cooler for your truck. That should a huge improvent. Also check if the allisons changed over the years. Kind of like Ford in 08 with a different pan and filter for the 5r110
