We got 31.5" today lol we got absolutely buried it all cam down between midnight and noon basically i know others have gotten more but we haven't gotten anything like that in one day in a long time. I was hoping to work on the truck today being forced to stay home with the driving ban but of course that didnt happen lol.
I know i cant wait to get the hood painted to match i need to figure out an insert as well for the openings.

I would make it from the back on the inside of the hood. Metal House screen painted black or somthing like that and glass it in.Another idea is look at a 70,71 Olds 442 as it looks pretty close to what you have.
Awesome progress Matt. It's been a while since I checked in and just read about 30 pages of updates. Now I've got to check on big bee's progress to see if he's keeping up with you lol. As for the axel dump, I don't know how much hotter your 12v's exhaust would be than my 300 6 but it has an axel dump and the bed isn't cracking at all. Keep up the great work.
I love to see you make that hood a functional cold air intake for the turbo. I think with some creativity and a bit of fiberglass it could be done. Make an air filter box and then run a hose up to a plenum you make on the hood.
As for the paint, I vote flat black for the center section of the hood (scoop out to the body lines on the hood) with the rest painted to match the truck.
I think you should have these decal's in front of the functional intake....
And finally, on the driver's side of the intake scoop... silver pinstripe that says "Ford makes it..."
And on the passenger's side, "Cummins shakes it!!!"
That's what I would do, but I am not right in a lot of ways
I like jeremys idea of the flat black in the hood especially with the color of your truck.
Not sure if I like the decals though. Of course I am shaved look kinda guy.

Lol I love the ford shakes it Cummins shakes it idea that's awesome! I think if I was to do that instead of flat black I would do the gloss black to match the lower portion of the truck and the flares. I think the silver pinstripe would look nice also between them since I already have that currently. So you guys mean just paint the scoops black basically and the rest charcoal grey?
OH! the spot like on the original hood that starts to go down to the fenders I got ya, that wouldn't look bad...maybe I can get the fiancé to work her photoshop magic lol. I thought about having Billet Badges make me a door badge like the 6.0s have that says 12v Cummins Twin Turbo Diesel and Allison right under it with the Allison logo.
something like this:
(idk why but internet explorer insists the image has to be above all the text...)
Yeah we got buried lol, I had school today and most roads are one lane roads currently and you get the people who didn't clean their driveways trying to get out so they floor it until they get onto the road whether someone is coming or not...should have hit that guy and got myself a nice new aluminum Expedition when they come out lol.
You have to click and drag it to where you want. I have the same problem when uploading pics. I really don't care for this new photo uploader here on FTE.

I have such a lower tolerance for stupidity.... That is why both of my vehicles have steel bumpers. Make me a lot less concerned because steel beats plastic
I agree Trav. You guys can still post images by using [IMG] [/IMG]. Just post the photo's hyperlink in the middle.

I may have to start doing that as I like to put photos in a certain order.
That is why I still have a truck with steel bumpers (the 10 f150) and not aluminum or plastic. Of course though me and dad are pretty hard on bumpers and sometimes mom to. Hopefully that won't be the case on this truck. LOL

There is a metal bumper but it is about the size of the blocker beam on yhe SDs lol wont stop much damage in a high speed (30+) crash imo but who knows it may the cover will be trash though and thats basically everything the grille and bumper are attached. I have to figure out how to get the bumper off too because i want to install some led bars behind it but cant just pull the grille.
1) What do you all think about swapping in an expedition console instead of trying to make a complete one from scratch or shelling out the major cash for an SD one? I can obviously make all the measurements and hell even test fit once i figure out how to remove the one in my Expy. I could make a few filler pieces instead and fill the gaps where there might be some. I figured this will allow me to use my Mustang shifter since the hole is the same dimensions as the expy one and i can easily have space for my fuse panel to make a door on the side to access it if need be. My thoughts are it is a solid base to go off of for much cheaper than an SD console which i still may even have to modify some to get to work properly. Thoughts on this???
2) this might be kinda stupid but once i convert to two batteries for the 12v i will ikely run optima's since the destroked try is cut out for them and they have an issue when drained so if i am going to run a trickle charger on it then how to i hook it up? and does it charge both? I want to get a permanent mounted battery tender so when i store it in the winter i can just plug right in with an extension cord, are there any recommendations?
