Love them! We have had 4 of them. They have some power however stock efi is kinda disappointing (mom's 5.3L GMC makes more power stock).
Brother's 91 F250 is being rebuilt right now and will be completely stock minus .030 over and a full exhaust.
The 89 F350 has no mods at all minus dumped exhaust after cat. LOL I have to fix it up still.
Last two were the 93 F250 which was extremely powerful (we hauled 16K pound mobile homes with it no problem and offroaded with it). I wish I had headers on that truck but it only had dual thrush tubes that exited before the tire. Let me tell you that was the only other truck that the cops in town turned their heads for other then our Bronco 2 with thrush packs and holes in the entire exhaust (Before it was just open manifolds) LOL. Ya I like loud trucks.
The other was the motorhome we had which it had a cam, headers, full exhaust, and timing bump. That thing was the most powerful motorhome I have driven and I have driven quite a few (mostly Chevy 454s).
Ya fuel mileage sucked. The 93 got 8 mpg downhill with 285s and 4.30s.
However the motorhome got 12MPG with a C6.

Damn that would be fun with a ZF5 in it i bet...makes me want to pull the 300 and get a 460 for her lol and the 95 is a tiny truck so it will fly! Did you like it for offroading? also what do you think wheeling with a stick in one of those would be like? would you be searching for gears too much?
Lol I've seen those before, i dont know how i feel about them sometimes they look cool but others...eh lol. I am contemplating the exhaust though because looking at the Ex tank skid plate it will be cutting it close for the exhaust and if i go to a 4-5" diesel exhaust i think it may contact the skiplate. My original solution was to go to a side exit in front of the rear tire but my 08 springs run all the way up the rear of the cab so now I'm at stacks as a solution lol.
I'm with jeremy on this one. I think you should hardmount it to the bed with a flex pipe down on the frame and bring it through the bedside. Might save you some sheet metal work. I've been contemplating doing that with mine only issue is the side that has rust on the opposite side but that one looks pretty sweet with the 4.

Yes it would be fun however with the ZF5 it wouldn't be fast it would have a lot of pulling power because of the gear ratio. If I were to build one that could fly it would be an auto C6 which is what my F150 has.
The 460 is really heavy so some offroading it isn't the best in some case but others it is great in.
It all depends on what kinda wheeling you do. I personally only do light trailing, mudding, and sometimes play in the snow. I don't do rock climbing or anything huge like that.
When I used the 93 for offroading it did alright (would have done better if I put a set of tires on the truck) however it was a little trickier doing up hill mudding (when I did it ended up getting stuck had the rear diff on a rock and front diff on a tree needed a tractor to get us out).
With the type of offroading I do usually you try to get it to a gear that it will keep good momentum however on the trails I take I bet I would be shifting a bit. I know I have to shift quite often in the Bronco 2 but when I go trailing with the B2 I am locked in 4x4 and I have very little power (2.8L V6 getting a bit worn out from the abuse we put it through).
Being the 460 is so heavy that is what I am worried about which is where the cummins (I believe it is a little lighter) would help.
Being I can't get to much power for the offroading I do I might have to assign a different truck the huge horsepower build (maybe the 89 F350 but stay 2wd with the ZF5 I have) and build this 351 to have enough power to go through the mud as long as the E4OD can hold up.
That is why I am glad we have so many vehicles I can assign each one something different the bad part is deciding which one gets which job. LOL
In regards to the "poo shots" I think it would look way cooler before the tire on the bottom part of the bed 2 out each side.

Good to know Trav thanks! I am still tossing it around lol.
What is that type of exhaust really called? I can;t find more google images, you guys seem to be really into them lol.
No problem. It would be kinda hard to toss a 460 block.
I am not sure what it is called but I like it because a local truck here has it and I really really want that truck bad.
It is a 95ish chevy 1500 stepside lowered (ya first lowered truck I liked) candy apple red built 454 and auto trans (I believe 4L60E or 4L80E) regular cab with crager SS wheels. He has the exhaust just like I said but chrome and it has dual flowmaster 10s. That thing sounds sweet I just wish their was a drag strip because I would love to see it their.

Well i went to visit the Tranny this afternoon and decided to buy it it looks like it is in good shape and it was running before it was pulled a few weeks ago with no issues. I have a few pics of it here. I am thinking i will rebuild it and heck i might even do it myself since i have found several rebuild threads with extremely good pictures and details. I am thinking of painting it all silver like they come factory.
yeah it might have a small leak but its an easy fix. I made some progress on the truck tonight to prep for the hood and some more progress on the rear end.
I removed the hood by myself which was....interesting lol
Pics:
I set the 08 spring on the passenger side on the axle to show the size difference between the two. I tried to get the bolt out of the shackle by hitting it but the hitch is in the way so i have to figure a different way to get it out. does anyone have any ideas aside from cutting the shackle in half then the hanger off? I think i may though lol because i can get a new shackle and i am installing the shackle flip anyway.
Also does anyone know the driveshaft bolts? i cannot find the right size to get them off...
On my explorer they were either 12mm, 13mm or 15mm they might have even been 1/2" or 9/16". Just make sure you use a 12 point socket or wrench. My brother used a 6 point striping it out plus didn't get them tight enough and then I had to get new ones.
Last time I removed a hood by myself I had the hood knock me out cold and nobody was around at all to help.
Trav
My problem was I was dumb enough to keep the hood up while pulling it and standing on the frame horn of a 89 parts truck. Pulled the last bolt and next thing I know hood on top of me. Nobody came out till it was dinner time either by then I woke back up. LOL
Ya last time I used a 6 point on a 12 point bolt I stripped it out and it is a hard to find bolt for the brakes or cruise sensor on my explorer.
That is why I talked my dad into a 296 (something like that) 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" craftsman tool set that has 12 point and 6 point plus sizes that I probably will never use.
I think all our good tools are craftsman.
