Other than that, looks awesome!
Jeremy he said he wants to put it in the bed. I do agree however that if it does go under go stainless. I am hoping to put one like that under my 88 (maybe the ranger too) and I am defiantly going stainless even though their isn't much salt over here (not compared to you guys).
By the way Jon I just saw that overhead console and that thing is sweet. If I was better with wood I wouldn't mind doing that in the explorer instead of the 2nd gen overhead console I have going in it (with rear view diming mirror). Might have to get my brothers to help me make one with the router and such for the explorer then stick the overhead console and mirror I already have in my 88 or the ranger.

I personally have a couple tanks in the backyard from a parts truck we had (84 so tanks wouldn't work on anything) and the gas sat so long the floater arm completely rusted off. I also had this problem on my 88 F150 and the 89 F250.
Jon the tank itself shouldn't rust out (it would be weird if it did being they are plastic on SDs).
The only thing is you would probably end up running out of bed space then again you got the 95 for that. The fuel tank is about the same size as the truck box on our 02 F250 so that gives a bit of a perspective of how much bed room you will have.
Trav
Haha well I guess I got a little confused.
I thought they were plastic, but then I thought I remembered reading something about them being steel. And I thought you guys were talking about the tank itself. So I just kind of said tank, and meant the tank in general with everything else that goes with it. Oh well haha.Yeah i will investigate that more i will hang on to the tank since the swap wont be for a while but if it turns out it will work fine then i will mount it in the bed once i get her on the frame again and just leave it until the swap is being done.
The hardest part is going to be mounting all these things, my original plan was to mount he tank like i said and build a nice metal enclosure like they make for the T pip on trucks that have stacks and then mount my air tank and compressor on top of that since i will have lost that bed space anyway. I am not concerned that much about bed space since it will only be a little more than a foot and i also have my 95 with a 6ft bed lol. Plus my dad has his truck as well so we have 3 trucks lol. I will check what kind of metal we have lying around work here but i bet it is pretty good quality scrap pieces. If not then i can order through work since we order in bulk i can get a discount on metal, thats my plan for the bed supports.
Yeah I like the idea of the air tank for air horns, which I plan to get eventually, and then for the auxiliary air, I think that could be pretty useful.
I really like the idea of boxing in the tank I think it would really clean it up and look good, and then that would give the perfect spot to mount the compressor. That's what I plan to do if I ever put stacks on my truck, I like the look of the box covering up everything, gives it a cleaner look. I know not everyone's not a fan of stacks, but I like the look, if its done right. But I'm not totally decided on them, and their so far down on the list I won't even think about them for a long time anyways haha.
I like Jeremy's idea. And the stainless would just look cool haha.
Stainless and chrome always looks cool especially under the truck with a full stainless exhaust system.
Trav
Jon i agree with Trav unless you lift your truck and put big tires on it i think yours will look nice with a regular exhaust and a big tip. i contemplated stacks for the longest time but i cam to the conclusion that personally they only look good on Crew cabs that are lifted and on big tires but again that's my opinion and its not my truck.
The nice thing is once i get the gooseneck hitch i can predrill all the holes in the frame and then POR it and start to reassemble it and fix the bed! I might...MIGHT (definitley will...) pull the drive shaft and axle and POR them as well and get a riffraff rear diff cover. My OCd will kick in once i start to paint the frame and before you know it i will have the axle pulled lol.
Trav
Some people have a lotta ***** driving these micro cars that don't even make enough torque to tighten our lug nuts....
However not all idiots are in the small cars. I was in the explorer and some guy came up to me with his dodge way overloaded and his brights on blinding me so I be nice and slow down for him to pass and he stays at the same speed but doesn't pass he almost hits my explorer. I am so glad that I had the tires I have on now because pushing the old tires up to that speed so he wouldn't hit me probably wouldn't happen. He did pass later and I soon saw him pulled over.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Haha you've told me that a few times before Trav. Yeah I do really like them on my Dad's truck. That's part of the reason I want them, got to at least keep up with him haha. But you're right I don't think it would look quite right on my truck right now, don't have enough done to it yet. And don't worry even if I do get them it won't be for a long time anyways. Got a lot of other stuff to do on the list before that lol
I like some nice stainless or chrome accent's too. Especially under the truck, really stands out against all the black under there.

Yeah I think the stainless one would look nice Matt. It definitely does look pretty, lol. I really want some air horns too, but just don't have the money for it. Again got a bunch of other stuff planned to do first.
Yeah, yeah I see what you guys are saying...
But seriously though like I said its really not high up on the list of things to do to my truck. Comes down to that its really a very expensive $600+ mod that essentially does nothing other than for looks and sound, haha. So that's a lot of money that can be spent much more usefully on something else right now. And yeah like you said I would definitely have it lifted and a bunch of other stuff done first before the stacks. I don't really like them on stock trucks other than maybe duallys or bigger trucks like my Dads. I like them on pretty much any body style if its done right and on the right truck. Almost like them better on super cabs because they kinda look more proportional to the cab length, in my opinion. Which is part of why I'm not sure about them on my truck. What do you guys think about the single stack? I definitely like that better on super cabs. I used to not like the look, but its definitely grown on me. Mostly because it seems like everybody's running dual stacks. What about those new ones, I think they're called So-flo stacks. They're two stacks off centered like most people run the single stack. Not sure if I like those or not.Yeah I'm just like you with the OCD. That's why I put off the POR on mine for now, because I knew I wouldn't be able to do it without pulling apart everything and coating every inch under the truck haha. And since I would have everything apart I might as well do a suspension "rebuild" since I know I'm probably going to need a lot of suspension work coming up here. So wouldn't want to take everything apart twice, haha. I can tell the suspension and drivetrain is getting worn, but that's to be expected with almost 280,000 miles. So might as well kill tow birds with one stone, lol. I'm just picky like that. But my plan to wait and save up to do it right and completely. Going to tear apart everything put a bunch of new parts where needed and then POR and or paint everything. Plan to add some nice accents and paint some thing white to contrast with the black. Like the driveshaft, diff covers and some other parts. That might look cool on your truck Matt, but not sure since your truck is already black and gray. So not sure if the gray would really stand out against the black or not, but still might look cool.
OCD I think everybody has that when we start customizing our trucks maybe not in the same places but we all have it. LOL
Air horns are on my list to it is just a matter of getting the other mods done to my 88. (I kinda feel like the loner because I don't want to do to many mods to the SD but would rather do more to my F150. LOL) I have a lot planned for the SD to (recon smoked lights, 08 gate w/step (for short people like me), do some more mods to the engine, F350 rear blocks and leveling kit front and either the size I have now or 315s, and add a billet insert to list a few) but not near as much as you guys have.
Trav
I am not a fan of single stacks personally i think like everything it really depends on the truck for certain mods in general not just stacks to look good. If i was to do stacks i would do Two 7" mitre cut satin black stacks i think. Actually one of the reasons i am not thinking about getting them is because i am still unsure about how i feel the 12v sounds with them.
OCD definitely if i didn't have it the truck would be together i am killing like 26 birds with 1 stone lol. I am definitely thinking about the cervini ram air hood btw lol i love that hood and feel like it might match well with a fusion bumper.
This is the only angle of the two i can find together, i might get it soon (as in spring/summer) so that when i get the cab corners replaced he can paint the hood as well and the 08 tailgate i still need to follow up on.
EDIT: damn its on amazon for $700 i could get it for $295 and free shipping..... or OBA set up...I'm terrible at this i should be working lol
Hood with fusion bumper:
Candy cane driveshaft might be pretty cool on the 88 and 02 with the black and white. LOL Just joking wouldn't do that.
If I had a diesel (well Jon knows which one I want) I would have a 6.0L and if I had stacks it would be two slant cut 6" in chrome. Of course the diesel I want is a crew long bed Harley package with 35s and a 4" lift so I doubt stacks would look good.
Trav
I like the same style stacks Trav i think they look killer in most applications arn't they called mitre cut?
Not the style i want but it doesnt look horrible i guess

These are the ones! exept black of course
Something like this....
These are also pretty bad ***...
But as far as CAT stacks go, this is the top!
And Trav, I did the candy cane on the Ranger

I could resist the urge to do it. My truck isn't lifted high enough for it to be noticeable, but I know its there
