Hey guys I've been thinking this morning and i am trying to figure out a way in my head to get my cruise controls to work with the new F150 wheel and to also pass the stereo buttons through the cloc kspring to my controller that deciphers them.
Do you think it is possible to hook up the stereo buttons to one of the cruise buttons that way when a button is pressed it hops onto a already current wire the truck will do nothing since it doesn't match the resistance and the controller will pick it up and change the radio volume or something? This has had me stuck for a while but if i can get it to work without breaking my cruise control computer i will love you guys for ever lol.
You want to carry the signal to the stereo over a cruise control button?
Pictures would help me. Do you not have enough wires in the steering column because it is an 04 truck?
No i only have 5 wires and like 10 buttons lol, basically the cruise control buttons work on resistance so each button has a different resistance value that when the computer reads it it commands like accel, on, off etc. I was thinking in theory could i just attach all the stereo button wires together and onto one of the cruise control buttons so when the computer see's the stereo button resistance values it will not give any command but when the stereo controller picks it up it will do something such as volume or seek.
It's hard to explain without my diagram cd handy and Microsoft paint lol.
I am sure with some creativity it could be figured out. I would've never guessed it worked that way.... I'd need some diagrams to figure this out..... lol
Just another thought.... if your head unit came with a remote control you might be able to adapt you steering wheel buttons to trigger the remote. Just a though.

I will post some when i get home and get them off my disk, thats a good thought! how could i do that? It's a pioneer AVH-4400BH it has a remote.
I was thinking remove the remove from the case and hide it in the steering wheel. Run light gauge wire from the buttons on the wheel to replace the buttons on the remote. There are a lot of "ifs" involved with that though lol
Even in mom's Envoy with steering wheel controls I still do like Jeremy said. I guess never having that option has made me addicted to the common way.
Besides don't want to get to fancy other wise in the 95 you will be hitting the cruise control buttons to turn up the radio. LOL (Mom did this when she drove the 90).

Lol true, i have it in the Expy and like it but i have the remote....i can probably live without it since i drive with the remote in my right hand in the truck lol... well i did run a +12v to the column maybe i can use it for mytach signal booster so the remote start works! I will still need to modify the F150 Cruise controls to function with the 04 F250 ones which shouldn't be hard just remove the resistors if necessary and install new ones of the right resistance value.
Found a solution to my overhead console dilemma that i have been wanting to do for the longest time but could never find the part number for it from ford. It's an F650 overhead console for the new F650's! P/N: BC4Z-70519A70-B
It holds 3 gauge's and 4 carling switches and should follow the form of the headliner nicely! My plan is to put an air tank gauge air suspensions gauge and a third gauge in there as well as my two winch and air bag switches. it is $71 from Tousley I am trying to figure out if that includes the mount or not though for the ceiling.
Also wanted to share that i want to build a 2011 excursion one day lol been looking at builds on youtube recently.
That console doesn't look to bad. Also looks like it follows the lines of the 87-96 interior pic above so might be another cool idea for one of the trucks. LOL
If I liked the look of the front clip of the 2011s I would agree however not a huge fan.
