Trust me, my truck still certainly rides rough but not nearly as bad as his. I have rancho 7000s and he has the 9000s as well

I think I have a couple 7000s in the backyard (from a parts truck that are newer) how good are they? Been waiting to install them on the explorer but don't want to do double the work if they are no good. It would only be on the rear though because the parts truck has bad fronts and my explorer I am pretty sure the shocks up front are still good (after 243K miles).

Yeah the SD springs are 3" wide the holes in the hangers need to be drilled for 1/2" holes though vs i think the 1/4" holes they are now. I saw that the SD spring give 3" of lift and my old 5" blocks should be another 3" because the current ones are 2".

Also i would run 35s from treadwright i am thinking. They retread the tires so it would be $300ish for 4 tires since i drive it on occasion i wantes to give them a try.

Good to know miles im not expecting miracles lol, im running bilsteon 5100s and i like them i mean i got the truck woth 60k on the stockers that were plowed and towed with often so ots my first time with new shocks lol.

Hmm now I guess if I decide to lift one of the F150s I know where to go (3 SDs in the local junkyards total). Actually might have to do it to a bronco once I get one since my 88 isn't going more then a leveling kit and the 90 is probably going to stay stock suspension wise.

Yeah when I redo my suspension I'm going for a full 4" lift. Hoping for some improvement over what is now, but not expecting anything spectacular. Was planning on going for a complete Icon kit, but wasn't sure how they compare to the Superlift springs, which everyone seems to love. So how do the Icon's compare to Superlift?

For shocks was thinking about Rancho 9000's or Bilstein 5100's or 7100's if they are better. I really like the adjustability of the 9000's though. Would also consider Fox or King's if they are that much better than the Rancho's or Bilstein's.

Just sort of thinking aloud... lol

Thats going to ride like you have blocks for springs. You'll be giving up 2-3000 pounds in just weight of the vehicle. If you think your truck rides stiff with them imagine a 150.

That's a good point, i get so much axle wrap and wheel hop in it though that it makes it a PITA to drive when its wet out so i was thinking that that may be of some help with stiffer springs on her. Still not sure if i am going to go through with the spring swap yet but i dont really plan for it to be a super smooth ride anyway.

Trav i will find and link them as soon as i can sorry guys coming to the end of Q4 at work and we have contract deadlines so ive been working 55-60 hour weeks lol.

Here ya go man! SD Rear Spring Swap into OBS - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

I was incorrect about going from 1/4 to a 1/2 bolt it is a 1/2 to 3/4 hole on both the hanger and shackle hanger. you can use the SD shackle or the OBS one the OBS one jsut needs to be trimmed a little.

Hmm that is very interesting.

I was wondering why the 2nd spring was cut on my brother's 91 F250 like that. Now I know. They must have put SD springs in the rear when they did the 2" front lift + taller blocks (removed the old blocks).

Miles, I give props. I don't know anyone who goes on vacation and has a loaner SD at their disposal.

I have 5k springs on my truck, no lift, and Monro Sensatracs shocks. The ride is pleasant. Its not air ride, but I am pleased with it. I had 9000s on my old 04 and it really stiffened the suspension and that truck had the 4.2k springs on it. They worked extremely well on big bumps, but they were really resistant on pavement. There was a huge amount of resistance on the compression which I believe was part of the problem.

Merry Christmas guys!!!

Merry Christmas! I don't know why i came into work this morning i put out all the fires last night lol.

Yeah i like the ride of my SD i could care less if it gets softer or not i think she rides like she is supposed to. Either way though i will need new springs when i put the 12v in since i am adding 3-400 lbs to the front end lol.
