Thanks for all the info! Everything felt great until the lights came on. I will pull off and check those connections to make sure. From reading around it does sound exactly like everyones symptoms for a bad temp sensor though.
I have no way to read the temps right now besides what the gauge on the dash shows me. That gauge on that dash says the sensor is bad lol.
Just to make sure AE can read and watch the transmission?
Yes, it can. You should have a code set with the flashing tow haul light.
Congratulations on success after your long journey!!!! It has been very informative to say the least. Once you get the small bugs worked out you'll really love the truck. I know I've learned a mountain of information.
No dirty plugs. I drove it 4 times now after letting it cool a bit between drives. Have around 40 miles on it total. Every time around the same time/temp the trans temp gauge falls and the lights come on. I am 99% positive it is the temp sensor in the trans. Easy enough and like I said I am happy happy happy if that is the only problem! I did notice and you will see in the video there must have been some green coolant left after I blew out the heater core and it stained the ford gold. Hopefully it will all be gone in the next flush. Also notice the mismatched batteries BAD! Don't do that! Its what I had around (extra) that are good. I will be going to get a matching set soon, I just wanted to get the truck started and moving for now.
I made a video just now after coming home from a drive to pick up my kids from school. They liked the truck but I didn't tell them it has a 6.0 lol
Get your butt back to Excursion site, you are too busy pimping your ride overthere
Yeah I have been neglecting my excursion side for quite some time here. However it is winter and the X is hibernating right now so I can't do much to it. I did want to pull the alternator while it is away and rebuild it but I am unsure what rectifiers it has and where to get them. I'll get back to the X soon enough. lol
I know I asked about the SGII. But if you can get access to a Snap-On scan tool
you can setup an auto recording "movie" and look at the temp and the sensor voltages.
Most of the other high end scan tools will also do this.
Once you have warm weather it looks like you could do an engine bay cleaning
with some Simple Green to remove some of that old crusty stuff on things.

Sean
I do have a buddy who has a snap on scanner. I may run over by him one of these days just also to see if there are any soft codes not showing a light.
Yeah my plan was to clean the outside of the engine and most of the parts when it was back together. I was waiting for someone to mention something about putting a dirty motor together. lol
