…However, it was pinging at WOT. I have a brown secondary spring in, I'll go down to the next fastest opening spring rate. Should fix that. I know it's not the timing, it's 11* BTDC and full in by 3000 RPM.
Matthew - How do you know it isn't timing? Just because the initial is set at 11 degrees doesn't mean you don't have too much mechanical timing.
It's 37* total, all in by 3000. I put the "plain" secondary spring in. No more pinging at WOT anymore. I had a brown secondary spring in previously.
Ok, if that fixed it. But, if you have 37 degrees centrifugal and 11 initial, that gives 48 total - which is a lot. Or, do you mean 26 centrifugal and 11 initial for 37 total?

Should have been more clear on that. 26 centrifugal, 11 initial.
Thanks! out of all the cars we have, it's the most dependable one of them all.
I would say that's about how it is for me as well. It costs a lot to drive (460 and 4 speed) but as long as you put fuel in it it will go. I'd drive it anywhere just as long as someone else is paying for it!

LOL! that's how I do it. If I do a hauling job for someone I make sure they cover the gas, or at least 90% of it. I'm not doing that crap for cheap and then have to pay for the gas. I average 9-11 MPG. Hilly here. It'd probably be a little better if I could find a factory air cleaner with the heat/cool air flapper assembly working...
I'd swear I've seen those pics before somewhere. So, I'll say here what I said in one of "there": I'd love to see a pic of the after in the same conditions in which the first pic was taken.

I wish I averaged 9-11! The quotes I give people to move stuff usually turns them away but there's fuel, time and wear on the vehicle to account for.
That grille looks awesome by the way. Makes me want to do the same to mine.

What do you average? 7-8?
I did this for about $6 worth of materials and about 3 hours of time. I also put new screws in, as the old ones were all mismatched and missing in places.

Yeah 7 or 8.
The grille is good but I need to replace the Ford oval and headlight bezels. When I do I will definitely do this as it's a really nice improvement for the money and time.
