I've got my Summit racing mufflers on, I think the shop gave Matt some better ones but I forget. My 78 bronco doesn't seal up at all and the exhaust noise is very audible within the cabin. However, it is much quieter than before inside and it sounds much better.

I was given the Magnaflow style muffler that they offer, if I'm going up hills I can sure hear it, but it's not loud inside the cab at all. It makes noise, but it's quiet and doesn't drone at all. Perfect!
As far as sound, mine has a nice deep sound from outside or with the windows open (you should hear it climbing the up slopes on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel). Inside with the windows closed and the radio at about 22%, it is virtually silent (the extra insulation under the carpet helped) the 1996 door panels have a pretty thick pad behind them so I'm sure that helps.
When we were moving my cousin in Easton MD over Labor Day weekend, my brother, who has an '07 Tundra he put duals on right after he bought it, asked me "What's wrong with the exhaust on your truck, it sounds kind of loud?", I informed him that that was what a big block with the original 1986 exhaust sounds like.
A Yota eh? no wonder why he asked, he's used to silent vehicles!
I knew it was something like that. For me to get flow masters with a single in dual out plus pipe work it would have been $1000. For true 2.5" duals with my cheapie mufflers, it was $700 cash. And all the pipe is tucked away real nice and nothing hangs down.

Went by your house on the way home the other night, I saw the tailpipes. Looks nice! do you have a video of how it sounds?
Well that sounds MUCH better than it used to, those mufflers sound great. That shop sure does some neat looking pipe bending, looks like their pipe is thicker than everyone else's too. Did you notice a power increase with the exhaust system?
It does sound better. As for power, when I step on it it feels like it has more "get up and go" but it could just be the sound. With the old exhaust it was more bark than bite but now it actually sounds like it has power. My intake was leaking pretty bad and since I can't afford to get gaskets nor do I have much time to fix it, I just globed up RTV on the edge of it. It is an ugly fix and probably not one any shop or experienced mechanic would do but I am neither.
Mine had a huge torque increase with the exhaust system vs flex pipe and glasspacks. It used to struggle to just take off from a stop, put the system on, flies!
With my 2.73 gears in my rear end, I don't get much torque amyways. It will keep you in your seat for the most part but it isn't what it could be. I also need a new carb since my Carter is pretty worn out. If I do a new carb I might look into a manual choke set up, my electric one has been causing me grief for a while. BTW Matt what carb did you get from summit? I may look into one if it is fairly inexpensive and easy to tune. (Easy for a blonde polack)

This thing's great! it usually goes on sale early in the year and late in the year. Electric choke works very good on it. Only beef with my electric choke on it was the factory setting notches were way too strong so I had to figure out where to back it off to. But since I've done that it's worked flawlessly. However, if you buy that. I'd recommend getting this at the same time http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-5585/overview/
That's the best deal for a spring kit and quick change cap I could find. Only reason I recommend that is free shipping at the same time and the secondary spring they put in these carbs are pretty light so they open too early, for most heavy vehicle applications.

That's funny. I love it. True though. I love loud V8 exhaust especially on trucks.
When my truck had flex pipe and glasspacks it was so loud it would drone you out of the cab your ears would be ringing by the time you went around the block. It was so loud at first someone 2 blocks away looked back at me to see what was coming at them. I'm glad I don't have that anymore lol.
