. I haven't used the pray can stuff much, only a little BUT that's wasn't the point. Over in the bronco section we had talked about using a bed liner inside a bronco vs the vinyl floor. Sure it's easy to clean, but it doesn't dampen the sound much. .....
I haven't personally tried it yet but a little while back I read about a few FTE members using this with great results. One of them sells it at a discount, I'll likely try it when I get around to the interior body work we were talking about this summer so I saved the link. About Al's Liner Heat and Noise Reducer
Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this. Since I've updated this last. I've taken the interior out, prepped the living daylights out of the floor and back wall and sprayed it with herculiner and put the interior back in. The passengers side floor board had a few small rust holes from water soaked insulation, the metal was strong between the rust holes so I addressed it and filled them all with fiberglass body filler. I've installed new wheel cylinders and rebuilt my calipers (brakes work awesome and don't stick now) I also put a NEW master cylinder on the truck. I have put new wire harness connectors on the alternator, installed a 192* Motorcraft RT1139 thermostat (thing works WAY better than the 180* Motorad piece) I flat sanded my thermostat housing completely flat and used loctite 515 gasket eliminator and it hasn't leaked since. I doubt it ever will, either. Today I changed my primary carb jets. Went down 1 size. I also installed a new rear fuel tank sending unit. Also a month back I fabricated myself a top alternator bracket. Here's some pictures, none are in order but here they are.
New Ford emblem.
Only surface rust here, wire wheeled it to bare metal the best I could and rust converted it and topcoated it.
Yeah, both of my gas tanks are really that clean inside.
Well I figure I should update this again as I've done some pretty eventful things to the truck since I posted last. I painted the top of the cab and the tailgate, I did everything. Even painting.
It's not perfect, but the only run I got was in the top of the cab, after I had sprayed the final coat. After I had bumped the air line in the paint. Filled it in and it ran down the back a little. I should be able to wet sand and buff it right out. No runs in the tailgate, looks damn good in person. The metal is not 100% dent free and perfect, but it looks better than most 28 year old pickup's tailgates do. I'd say it's a good 95% straight. All I have to do now is get the FORD lettering decals, the pinstripe for the paint line and get the back of it lined to match the bed.
I also did a 3G alternator conversion last week, parts store wanted $90 for a POS 2G fire hazard alternator - and a reman at that! Bought a new 3G off Ebay for $85 and the rest of the stuff to convert it was $30. 130 amps, no fire hazard and a better alternator for about $20-25 more as a 2G wold have been out the door.
Whoa, been a while since I updated this. All I've done to it recently is put a new PMGR starter in it and I replaced the inner tie rod ends tonight and reset the toe. Just been driving it lately for the most part. I also converted the Summit carb to manual choke in November. Sure do like being able to control it manually. Comes in very handy at times. I also put new tail lights on it. Best part is I sold my old working fine starter for $20. Paid for the new one!
Alright, finally got a spare tire and a carrier for this thing. Also snagged a real nice condition coolant/window washer reservoir for $5 because it had silver paint all over it.
Had to make my own front bolt, since 4 trucks at the junk yard refused to give them up.
The truck is looking very nice. You just reminded me that I need to get a spare tire mount
Thanks! sadly the 86 F150 I got my carrier from had a nicer paint job on it than my truck! it didn't even have any dents on the INSIDE of the bed. Sitting in there all because of a bad engine. All but about 2 or 3 pre 92 Ford trucks looked like they didn't belong in there. There was some good stuff there but most of the interior parts on the nicer trucks was mostly gone. Every single one was rust free as can be on the underside. A bit of a shame to see that.
Converted the truck to electric fan today. First thing, I'm very surprised how much pep it has taking off now just with the mechanical fan gone. Second, this thing barely pulls any amps, my stock headlights draw way more amps than this fan does. Driving down the road wind resistance keeps the coolant temp at 190. The fan only comes on (at least this time of the year) at idle. Throws air like crazy.

The fan is a TSP (Top Street Performance) HC-7105. Best deal I could find on it. Gets pretty good reviews for the price.

I could have saved $10-15 in the controller department. But, you get what you pay for it looks like. Saw lots of good about that controller and very few bad responses. I think the people who had failures overloaded the switch from high draw fans.
