I've only got a sideways air rachet. My compressor ain't big enough to run my big impact. Flywheel holder??? Is that a real tool? Next to the blinker fluid. Lol.

I have a heavy duty hoist, I'm thinking about trying to pull the trans out from the engine bay. I would have to stretch out the crane tho. It's a 2 ton compacted hoist. It would prob have to be extended to the 1 ton length to work. Has anyone out here tried this??? I prob should have pulled them together, but didn't know if the crane would handle it. I might try and reinstall the engine and trans together tho. But I only have one hoist. And I can't mount the engine on a stand until I get those freakin flywheel bolts off. Not too crazy about setting the engine on the ground. Am I all screwed up in my thoughts??? Am I missing something that's obvious to you all. I'm open to any and all suggestions about anything.

My wife would be out there turning wrenches and telling me how to do things according to some form of "written instructions". Does she not realize that instructions are not in the male vocabulary?

one flywheel tool This is to give you an idea on how to make one
BERGEN Professional Diesel Engine Flywheel Locking Tool Kit for Ford BER3162 | eBay
These are $$ and may take too much time to get
Flywheel Holding Tool Rotunda 303-103
Ford Motorcraft 303-103 Flywheel Holding Tool
You may need to set the engine on the floor so you don't flip it oven
but leave the hoist attached and maybe some 4X4 under the mounts.
When your ready to place it so you can free up the hoist I would use a
pallet and the 4X4 blocks to help keep t in place.

I thought u were bs' ing me about the holding tool. Lol. I'm gonna try the wrench wedged in two bolts. I posted a pic of it. Man I hope this works. Actually, I guess if it doesn't, then I can just leave it with the core.

I'm considering keeping the core and having it rebuilt. Gonna wait to get the heads off to decide. I could take them off to see if I can tell what went wrong.

I've been reading about stuck flywheel bolts and a lot are saying I could grind the end off of the socket. All mine have the bevel before the actual working part of the socket. Any thoughts on the electric impact? A lot of people were saying electric doesn't have the torque that air does. Dunno, just thinking that maybe someone else will be in this situation someday, so I'm throwing out all ideas.

Even a small compressor should be enough to at least bust loose the bolts with a good impact.

Because they blots are going to be replaced you
can heat them to break any thread lock compound.
Get them good and hot then let them cool. That is one
was and about the only way to free up any thing
that has been treated with lock-tight. That should help.

Hey cmk, I saw it suggestion about the misho ( something). Cac. Do you have one of them? I still haven't found out about mine from the radiator shop. It sux how expensive they are. Btw, what kind , or brand impact should I get? The rachet I have is fairly strong, but the big impact has no mojo.
