That's looking good. I think that plate will hold. I'll see if I have any hall passes available this weekend. I want to see the infamous high mileage cream puff. I only put 320k on mine but it got beat like it owed me money. I tried to be nice to it but all the heavy loads offroad in the mtns wore out the suspension components. The engine and trans were solid. And It ran hard. I miss it sometimes I had a lot of blood sweat and tears invested in that leaker. Honestly I still feel out of place in this new one sometimes.

Silly thought here but if you have a video camera you
could do a high speed replay of the lifting process and share that.

Anyway please keep the photos coming.

Another day down.

The motorcycle lift was not useful. Hello harbor freight. The transmission jack was money well spent. The top end is ready, so I'm in the basement now. Removed the front driveshaft completely, not the rear tho, I just strapped it up. Had to use a bungi to hold the rear one off center to get the transfer case out. Didn't want to have it pulled sideways too long cause it strained my carrier bearing.

Holy crap, what us wrong with this. I'm a doofus sometimes. I didn't pay attention and backed the bolt out until the rachet touched the transmission, then I couldn't switch the rachet to tighten, and couldn't get it off the bolt. I was sweating That for about 20 min. I even got the oscillating tool out and was gonna cut the stud on the rachet. Oh man, what an idiot. I stopped, drank a beer, then realized that after I take the other bolts out,,,,, THE TRANS CASE WILL MOVE. I felt dumb as all get out.

Something is definitely leaking there huh

This is how it's sitting now. Trans will b out first thing. Got the crossmember unbolted and the cooler lines off. That jack is nice(so far that is). The transfer case was strapped, but after removing the strap, it sat just fine. It has 4 brackets that can be tightened against the housing.

Side view of how it sits now

In the garage.

I don't know, the seals looked ok.

That's it tonight. I did drop the cac and the intake off at Midwest radiator. If it can b fixed,,, they can do it. Wonder how well my intake will clean up. And how much. I got some red caliper paint that I'm thinking about using somewhere. I also have a tranny shop here locally that the boss there used to party with my dad, I've sent him a bit of business. I'm planning on sending my trans n trans case to him n pay him to disassemble, thoroughly clean, inspect, then reassemble. I do not want any leaks, especially after spending all this.

Here where I'm at. Spent the weekend with my son,,,, back to work.

Got another new toy. Umm. Tool I mean.

I didn't do the time lapse. It was a bit hectic gettin it done. Pulled the trans. The stub on the shifter had to come off, not just the long in cab shifter. The transmission jack from harbor freight worked like a dream. It was smooth. Got the engine out. The nuts on the frame holding the motor mounts were 13/16. It was a little tight for my liking so I removed the engine from the mounts, then removed the mounts from the truck. The lifting bracket is beautiful. Balanced great. Except the rear lifting eye was gonna tear into the top of the firewall overhang. I'm doubting if I'm gonna put em back on. Prob should've taken out the fimoto valve, it was close but it cleared. The biggest pain was getting the hoist into the garage with that lip in the concrete. Couple steel bars and the hoist hooked to the mower pulled it right in,,, lol. I'm serious actually. Here's the engine

Ole grey has never been so naked. No drivetrain at all.

Here you can see the lifting bracket in use

Are you guys thinking "glad that ain't my truck"? Wonder what she's worth now.

Here's my clutch.

The clutch plate looks amazing for 582k.

Here's the other side

Freakin crazy. This is the top view. It's uniform all the way around too. Sure hope the south bend holds up like this one.

Same with the pressure plate. Smooth.

Flywheel. Should I even replace all this. Lol. I'm just kiddin

So now I'm hung up gettin the flywheel bolts off. They're on there. 5/8 and 16mm both fit. Which should I use? 6point obviously.
Kinda excited to get the odd side head off.

This is the even side. See how dry it is.

The odd side is soaked with oil.

You may want a flywheel holder and a few
cans of Popeye's spinach. But really the holder
should help keep it from turning on you. What
about using an impact wrench?
If you don't have air you could try the hammer
type of impact.

Btw, I've got a personal ? How many of your wives would be out here. For the whole thing. She's a trooper. Even if she does spend most of her time on her iphone. It's awesome to have her hand me stuff when I'm under or on my other love. Lol. We both drive tho. So it's her job also.
