So as a small update, while i am waiting for my intake and carb, i am working on getting the bolts and stuff for my fiberglass top. So far i got all 8 smaller bolts and i am working on the longer ones. they will be in by monday. I went through my local Fastenal and got the stuff. Then when it is sunny out i plan to pull the top off and do a bit of work. I do have a few pictures. the big problem appeared when i got the new bolts.
So first here are the new bolts and some of the washers.

This is the front driver side bolt hole for the 8 rear ones.

And just below that bolt hole is metal. No hole, no clip nothing. What do i do?

So far thats it, still waiting on any news of the package, USPS's tracking site is terrible.

Gruesome
there is a metal clip that slips in behind the roof to hold the bolt to the body...this bolt is a tapered one, like a fender bolt and clip....make sure you got these..or it might not work..
same with the side rails...
the secret is to start the roof bolts..then the side rails and tighten in sequense..look it up in the manual..if not sure..i may have a ciopy i can fax you

Ya i know about the clips, i have to see which ones i don't have so far. My problem is, on the pictures there are 2 holes i won't be able to put bolts in. There is no hole for a clip unless the whole top slides back half a foot.

you can lift the top and slide it back about a foot if needed.....this would be a good time to look at the two upper seals ......there is a body seal on the lip of the truck and another attached to the fiberglass roof...there are also seals under the roof along the body under the windows...i took my top off and replaced the clips and new seals..it will never be off again...

Ya, i plan to check all the seals. What i ment by the sliding back a foot, is in order to line up the 2 front bolt holes with something to put a bolt in, the top would need to slide back about half a foot or so. I plan to try getting it off today if my family isn't too busy.

Don't forget to get some topless pic's Dylan. We do like truck ****.

I found the camera and plan a trip to town today. But half the village is going with me so don't know if I can get pic's of the sister ship. Will try cuz I do want to see if it is for sale.
I wonder what the chance is of it having a 300 I6 in her? If the 351m/400 is toast I will find a diesel.

*Ka-ching*

*Ka-ching*

And finally the top that is in question. Mind you it is a bit beat up bit I plan to fix that quite soon

I am so happy i got it off and it isn't even Noon yet. I took it for a drive down to the gas station only to find my wallet was not in my pocket.. Alas i had left it at home, the one time i plan on not driving and leave my wallet in my room and i end up driving... Well since the clouds are getting darker i had to put a tarp over the back. Unfortunately the tarp i got is a 6X8 one and so it is just a tad bit short. It will keep a majority of the rain out though.

There aint much that is prettier than a 78-79 Bronc with her top off. What a thing of beauty.

Dylan I didn't make it to the town with the sister ship today to get ya some pic's. I got to take the GF in Monday so will check it out then while she is at the clinic. And no she aint with child. At least I hope not. I am like 60 years old. And yes I have decided to do what ever it takes to get that Bronc. After seeing TGM with her top off I have a plan to make an off road short Uni out of it. They make a pickup cab back kit for them still don't they? And no I won't be cutting out the fenders or chopping up the body or doing anything that can't easily be reversed.

TGM is a damn sharp looking old gal with her hair down Bud. You should be damn proud of her. Only two years of that style of Bronco and every day there is less of them or someone modifys it instead of Fordifying it.

So Don't just Modify it Fordify it.

Thanks man, i am very proud of this truck. I have only seen very few around here and usually they are in bad shape. Even if 2k is overpaying for this pig i am very glad i got it. Had i passed it up i would have regretted it a lot.

I hope ya never let her go Bud. Short of being totaled out there is not a damn thing we can't fix on her. And even if totaled ya can still use parts off her on yer next dent side Bronc and keep her alive that way. When the kids come along and life and family get in the way than just store her or drag her around with ya till ya get caught up. And that will be after the youngest is out of collage and yer about to retire. Than rebuild her with a frame off and ya can enjoy her all alone that way.

Well i planned to start painting the top of my... top. And i started but quickly found the wind to be causing me issues so i gave up for today. Spray paint and wind doesn't work well. But tomorrow i will be going to pick up the rest of the bolts for my top, i found out that there has been some serious bondo work on the bed rails and the 2 front bolt holes that are on the bedrails are covered over now. And the only bolts i won't be able to use are the top middle one and those 2 bottom ones. I plan to buy new clips when i get the bolts.

ALSO tomorrow i am going up to my local DOL to renew my tabs AND i am ordering custom plates. Now don't call me a dork or nothin but it is going to say GRSMJNS That or THEHULK i can't decide. Both are available as of now but i don't know which is better. I tried to get TGM or GRNMCHN but both were taken. Maybe if someone has a better one before i go up there tomorrow i will use it.
