Yeah, I'll see what they want at the parts store for it, and if it is a lot then i can snag one from the Junk Yard IF they have them. Not all of the vehicles have a carburetor left on them or even the top end of the motor.
Also i just thought of a small issue. I am going to have to cancel buying the bolt kit for this if i am getting a spacer.
Or maybe put on a car wash or mow a few lawns.
Just sayin
Kids had a lemonade stand last weekend. $2.50 a glass. And that without Bourbon.
They made $30.00 on that and 85 with the car wash. It all when to there after school is out trip.

Hahaha thanks but it isn't a money issue, the bolts are going to be too short if i keep the ones i ordered. The Fastenal right down the road will have the bolts i need for even cheaper.

Thanks but Summit would take too long to ship, but i might look into the paint. IF they have green
Well i got the intake back, and yes i got some pics. I went ahead and bought some of that Aluminum brightener, i know it isn't the exact same but same concept ya? Anyways, it sorta cleaned up the bottom and i guess a bit on the top but overall i think it looks better than when i started, there is still tiny bits of gasket and other misc. material on the ports but if i can get ahold of some light grit sandpaper i can take care of it quick. There was originally some pretty serious blockage on the center water jackets but it seems thats been cleared out. Everything also seems to be intact on it and i can't see any cracks. My issue now is painting, i didn't get hi-temp (don't eat me alive ) there is a bracket on the top where the throttle spring would hook too and i think it serves as a brace for the throttle cable. I can't seem to break these bolts loose, i tried some deep creep oil and that didn't help. I haven't tried them yet since i got it back but i figure it will be the same. Pretty much i think a few coats of primer then a few coats of green paint and some clear glaze should do the trick. Yeah eventually it will wear down as my track bar did but i am not too worried. It isn't ment to be professional.
Anywho enough jabbering here is some pictures.
This is straight from Napa to my deck.
This is the bottom obviously
Now i know what your thinking. It is wet so it looks more dirty but it is actually pretty clean. Without a wire brush i couldn't really get into it. I didn't have a wire brush cause i broke my last one
And the bottom after the brightener spray. Looks a bit better.
In terms of that bracket that i am having issues with, if i can't get it off then i will tape it up and paint around it... It might look worse that way but it will get done.
Best penetrating stuff is half acetone and ATF. Soak in on every hour for a day or two. If that don't get it off get it good and hot with a propane bottle torch. If that don't work than it is meant to break so mask it off and chew me out for the time and money spent. Haa Haa.

Actually i got it broke loose. I found a deep socket finally that fit good nuff then i took the handle for out small 2 ton jack and slaped it on the end then i had to pretty much lay on the intake to keep it from moving (my fat belly finally came to good use ) and cranked it loose. They both came off fairly easily. So far i have it primered and one coat of green. Man it is vibrant haha it looks great. Then with the little bracket i am painting it glossy black.
Guys wanna see my work I will start with what i just finished. I took off my steps and put lengths of chain on instead. We will see how it goes.
Doing this was a huge PITA, i had never tried cutting chain before and after digging out out chain cutter/bolt cutter and the only way i knew how was by a tv show that i used to watch called Dirty Jobs. The host had to cut chain. Anyways so i cut a length i thought would be nice till i tried to bolt it up. It was 3 links too long so i trimmed it and put it up again. It worked. Anyways, it is kinda difficult to get used to but it will work, i still have to do the passenger side but i now have to get one new bolt cause i kinda sorta broke one.
Ok now for the real meat of today. My intake. After getting it i cleaned it (earlier pics) and now i have it painted. It looks... AWESOME!!! Check it out
So don't make fun of me but i taped it the best i could.
I didn't get a picture of the bottom but i had the other ports sealed with tape as well. Then i pull the 2 vacuum spouts on there and shoved strips of shop rag in there then burned the ends so there wasn't any threads flying around getting in the paint.
It is now primered, i thought it looked pretty cool just black but if it was a matte black instead of this dull grayish primer black it would be even better.
So the first coat of green is on and drying, there is a lot of spots that didn't really get hit and even the finished product has some spots un painted.
This is that little bracket, fully painted and clear coated.
After a few coats it is really starting to pop
And the practically finished product. The clear coat is on and drying (needs 24 hours before you can really touch it) so tomorrow i will strip the tape off and sand the parts that had gasket and over spray on it. I am really happy with it now that it is done, the green really stands out. It will look insane on the motor.
I am planing about the same thing for steps. I am going to try and run the chain through about 10 inches of pipe. Or bolt the ends to pipe. So as to have the pipe for the step.
Thats not a bad idea either. My brother left a few towing chains and hooks at our house so fair game. I just don't want to ever have to cut chain again without a cutting wheel or something... Using the manual cutters is really harder than i though.
Ya. The long outside rail the cross links crimp to. I have chain pliers to un crimp the cross links and bolt cutters to cut the chain to length. I used them on my Log truck chains and they work very well on pickup tire chains as well.
