I'm back from VA. It actually turned into a money making adventure. Up until now, nobody ever told me I could get travel pay to go down there. It just so happens I did an axle seal for a guy going to the same VA in Fayetteville. He even described where to go in the hospital and who to talk to. They gave me $90 travel pay. It sure beats having to pay $100 at the civilian doctor.
RC, this guy with the truck isn't like that. He just wants me to check it out and see what I can see. As far as the scrap Dodge. I need to talk to my niece. I told here a ball park price for scrap before I saw the truck. I was picturing a lot more truck than what is there. I want to make sure she knows the money won't be there with this junk.
Rich, great news! Keep checking in.
Ches, there's free sites on the internet to help relieve certain kinds of stress.
alan you wouldn't want to look at a 98 olds intrigue before i set it on fire would you? Pulled the battery out of it to see if i could get a neighbors car to crank over put it back in fired it up now my ac/heater dont work right...the ac won't come on and my blower motor only works if i crank it up to high and hold the button in for a few. I apparently have to let the car run for a few minutes before it will let me do this then no matter what i put it on it stays on high. Shut the care off have to do the whole mess all over again. And for some reason the passenger side blows colder then driver. swapped relays it mad no difference checked all the fuses kid killed my multi meter but with a test light i have power going to the blower motor control resistor that mounts out side the blower casing and i have power going from it the blower motor so i am out of ideas. Blower motor? to low voltage maybe i read that there is a relay inside the resistor that goes bad and can cause this also read it could be caused by the ignition switch. Anyone wanna look at it?
Brian, Just taking the battery out and putting it back in with the key on can spike the electrical system and cause all kinds of problems. I'll say this, al ot of these problems are caused by, get this, ...dirty battery terminals. Take everything apart, clean everything until it shines. Then put everything back together and clamp it tight. New cars aren't like the old ones. You can't just throw the battery cables on and wiggle them a little and have everything work like new. I've had cars get towed in with no starts. It cranked just fine, but wouldn't start. ...until I put new terminal ends on the battery. Make sure the terminal ends are perfect. I bet your gremlins go away.
I went over and looked at that truck I did the engine in. Turns out the cap and rotor melted down. Ten minutes and it was going again. Modern ignition systems aren't like the old ones. The ignition will increase output to over come wear in the system parts. ...until they fail altogether. Which is what happened here. This is also, more common on Chevy trucks, 1988 and newer, than any other vehicle. (Don't ask me why. It's just another reason I don't drive a Chevy) He's in a bad way, so I didn't charge him anything for the service call.
Oh, a friend of mine has an '86 Bronco that runs and drives well, but has no title. Perfect to build a trail rig. It's a 351W/auto half ton. $600 this week if he can make it go away. Let me know. I have pictures if anybody wants to see it.

Looks like it will be at the olds dealership when the tax check comes in.
