Got a quick question, not used to starter relays etc....
Is my starter relay bad if it just buzzes /small sparks and no starter turn over , when I try to jump it at the relay? My battery is questionable at best but it at least should turn the motor over...
Alan, yes im jeff between the 4 barrel edelbrock intake , 4 barrel carb, probably head work, etc, ill probably throw in a new cam and lifters etc. so I hope to rectify that a little.
This will make the biggest difference. Throw in dual exhaust and that ole' truck will be rockin' and rollin' along! Good to see someone in the younger generation with a clue how this stuff works. Holler if ya' need a hand.
Yes, buzzing and sparks is no good out of the starter solenoid. I would tell you to make sure the connections are really clean. If they are, just pick up a new solenoid. It's about $25-$30.
Remember, at 600 CCA to turn these engines over. A Kia battery won't do it at all.
Well left Frankfort Germany and flew to Istanbul and then to Erbil Iraq (northern Iraq). Got to finally shower and sleep in a bed for 6 hrs, I hadn't slept since sunday night.
Then wed afternoon another flt to Baghdad, I'm across from the Baghdad International main airport. Got a 1 man room with a shared bathroom, single bed, mini fridge and fairly reliable internet. And the PX is open, KBR still cooking in the chow hall.....
In brief, body armor and weapons issue today, and then the nickle tour of the hanger and well......the rest is what it is.
Sounds like everyone is rocking and rolling right along, I'll be in touch. When its 8 pm wed night there in Mo, its 5 am thursday morning here. So I have a 9 hr jump start on the monthly thread start time lol
sounds good rich... hope all is well for you, cant say i envy you though... on that starter solenoid have you tried bypassing it to be sure battery and starter are up to snuff.. big pliers usually do the trick.. hey all i am back in missouri.. for a few days at least..looks like i came back at the wrong time my creek is up and i may not get back out if this rain dont stop... was nice to visit ya a minute alan.. we need to do it more often.. but you know it is the same distance from my house to yours as yours to my house..ha ha ha ha ha..well time for some dinner
lol, RC. Yeah, I know. I really need to set aside a day to get down there and lend a hand. I have to call tomorrow and schedule my surgery for my arm and wrist. It's getting really bad now. My back is doing fantastic, but I tried to write my daughter's names on their sports physical forms and I could barely do it. It feels like someone has one ice pick in my elbow and another in my wrist. This gettin' old stuff is for the birds.
yea alan getting old is the pits...but it beats the alternative.... dont worry about coming here..i was just pulling your chain.. one day when it is nice outside you can come down and we will do something...anything other than fix some broken truck..ha ha ha ha ha
So the tires on the bronco now are even worse than the tires I had before! Im ******* the engine it 4th gear driving up a steep hill in the rain at 30ish and it still spins out! I could under stand if i goosed it in 3rd?
Ches, when tires get old, the rubber crystallizes and gets hard. As this happens, it loses elasticity and grip on the road. You need to find some younger tires.
