P51 "the Galloping Ghost" Owner and Pilot Jim Leeward, age 80 was killed, the injury numbers have jumped to as high as 75 with 25 in critical condition!
Thanks for the remarkably-quick updates. I'm back in Boston for the next few days, and nobody back here knows anything, and the media are, of course, clueless.
Latest information straight from RRMC update as up 8:15. I'm guessing they are SAT (Saturated.. AKA Full) and closed their doors. Likely other hospitals will take everyone else.

At Renown Regional, 13 family members have arrived with 15 Renown staff assisting them. In

all patients received are either in surgery, waiting surgery or have been transferred to a room.
Additionally, four patients were received at Renown South Meadows Medical Center. All are in fair
condition.
More information will be provided as it is received.
Update 54 injured transported to local hospitals by ambulance, or helicopter.... numerous others with minor injuries were either treated at the airport, or drove themselves to local medical facilities. 2 spectators confirmed dead, and the pilot confirmed dead.... Like there was any doubt about that! Jim Leeward was actually 74 years old the initial report had that info incorrect. Another correction the aircraft was not 2500 bhp but modified to 3800 bhp in a 7600 lb air craft. That is 2lb per Horsepower... what a ride! Final correction he rolled to the right, not the left as previously reported.. Sorry I have been getting these reports from fellow pilots at the event, and now I have info from flight director news conference!

Sad. sad, sad.

Thanks Pop... it is always tough for a pilot to see this kind of thing... we always project ourselves into the situation, wondering "what would I have done" My neighbor left his house around 3 hours ago, he is the chief NTSB accident investigator, he will fill me in when he returns! Trey thanks for the hospital report...
Anderson Cooper on CNN is a complete fool he is reporting the pilot Jim leeward to be suspected dead. Really? suspected dead??? with approximately 20,000 witnesses I would say it is safe to say he is confirmed dead..
700 emergency medical personel on site in about 10 minutes Thank you Mercy Air,and US air national Guard for supply almost 25 helo's in a matter of less than 20 minutes..... Preflight checks and checklist's, and cockpit checklists take a minimum of 7-10 minutes at best in almost any Helo.. so these guys were haulin' ****.. Thank you to all of the ambulance, personel, and the Paramedics and fire crews that responded in huge numbers.. Our prayers go out to all involved!

Amen my Ford brother Trey! I have been to several crash scenes or incident scenes as a pilot.... it tears your heart out to see how incredibly fragile the human body is.. I was witness to a helo crash several years at KLGB sorry Long Beach Aiport on labor day 2005. A helo dropped from 300 ft agl.. as I ran to the crash site All I could see was dust.. the aircraft was all of 24 inches tall from compression on impact... on the opposite side of the aircraft from where I was, was another pilot squatting down.. I thought he was from one of the other aircraft in the area.. but it turned out he was the Pilot of the downed helo.... He had over 250 lacerations on the lower half of his body, and a broken back,,, but he was standing there or more correctly bent over with his hands on his knees... That is the only non fatal incident that I witnessed. I have seen a young lady walk head first into the tail rotor of a Robinson R22. Well enough of that!

In my line of work you see a lot of stuff. Some as you say, remind you of how fragile the human body is, but others show how much abuse we can take. It all depends. More often than not, youre shown how fragile we are though..
Good morning everyone.
Looked like the pilot rolled away from the crowd...avoiding more disaster? The video was incredible and hard to watch. You just never know, right?
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Mines going great.
I'm feeling good (so far), have a potential job interview coming up with a local hospital (gotta love blood & guts), & we're heading to Dayton Valley Days for good food, fun, entertainment, & a car show. I wanted to enter Olfthfl, but decided not to this year. Just can't afford it & she's not ready.
I could do a quick wash job i guess & jump start her, but then I'd still have to come up w/ the entry fee. Oh well, next year! It'll be fun either way.
