Does anyone know if there is a legal decibel limit for horns in CA?
This is all I could find:
I don't. But I know that the law allows you to actually use your horn only in very limited situations. Basically only where it is a matter of safety. So if you draw attention by LEO and they don't get you for excessively loud horns, they can usually get you for blowing it without a legit reason. Which is worse, because a train horn would be an equipment violation, just a fix-it ticket, but blowing it without good reason would be an infraction.
Just rambling here, but I don't believe you can install train horns without a violation, but you won't get caught if you don't act stupid.
One of my pet peeves is people using their horn as a doorbell, or to announce their arrival/departure. Drives me nuts.
OMG, don't get me started! My neighbors across the street have a shared custody kind of thing, and the bitch is always driving up and blowing the horn for her spawn of satan to come out of dads house.
