You never answered my question about the pump bracket, what does it hang onto?.
Sorry Encho, the pump mounts to the bracket. Its a bracket that is a direct replacement for our current bracket. The bracket is out of an E series van of the same era (~94)
After driving for a few days with my new pump I can definately agree that it turns effortless. It really is smooth, I was kind of doubting everyoine when they said it steered like a Cadillac, but it really does!
Time to adjsut my MLPS, its been giving me fits lately, sometimes I have to shift into drive and back to N before it'll start. Shouldn't be too hard. I just cleaned the interior because some moron (me) left a milkshake on the center console and then drove and pulled into the garage. It was one of those Hardees shakes too, open lid, super delicious, and $$ Of course it dumped all over the floor. Thankfully my floor is jsut bedliner so I wiped it all up, sprayed some cleaner and wiped it off.
Nothing too exciting today. I decided to clean up my engine bay a bit. Started with my AC compressor. Here's a before picture.

And heres the result of a bottle of degreaser and a can of elbow grease. Amazing what you can do with that stuff.

Thats about it save for inspecting for leaks. Looks like I'm gonna need new coolant hoses, but I already planned on a new water pump, fan clutch and coolant lines.
Ya my engine could use a few cans of degreaser... you know Brett you could have put the 5 second rule into affect with the milkshake... Just gotta scoop out the dirt chunks and it will be good as new
My cousin used some kind of vinyl/leather shine stuff under the hood of his chevy, it really made all of the black plastic and hoses shine without any ill effects (like WD40 which makes it too sticky/dirty), you ought to try it.
and which brand of degreaser? that compressor looks like you sand blasted it.
The stuff I used is called Grez off. We got cases of this stuff so I figured I'd give it a try. That and a wire brush will get thru anything. I was amazed how clean my PS bracket got when I cleaned it. Now I want to pull the alt and smog pump to do the other side.
I use to be big on painting and cleaning but noticed my 'new' stuff was ending up just as dirty as the rest of the engine compartment within a couple of weeks. Just painted my alternator new ford blue though and it looks outstanding though.
and dude, is that an 8-rib pulley on your alternator?
It does look odd in that picture. I m pretty sure its just a 6 rib....now you've got me worried. Where's my shoes! I have to go check.
I want to clean everything up real nice so I can see where my problem areas are that need something fixed/replaced. Plus it makes me happier to have a shiny engine.
Not sure what the 4 round ones on the right are for.
I was watching the old pages in hopes of finding out what your Alt was, and i'm sure you have a 3G there, probably a small case too (95A, like mine), also found the picture i just quoted, you lucky guy... those are shock bushings, complete with hardware to mount them and all...
There, real proof, it's a 3G, also, see the 4 holes above the pulley and at 8 o'clock in the groove? those indicate you have a small case 95A unit. I hope you like the info .
