i took my chrome trim off too, definitely prefer the look.. plus it got to the point that on one side of my rear wheel well the trim was basically floating as there wasn't any fender left to trim.
You thought about going fiberglass? I've been seriously considering it for my bed sides and hood.. if it started rusting in your rear quarters, then forget about stopping it. I did everything and realized the issue is that mud gets behind the fender, inside the bed and it's impossible to reach until it rusts out.. now people are trying to charge me $200 to just weld in the patch panel I have, without paint or blending! for that price might as well drop 600 on some fiberglass and rivet them in myself!

You do realize, that by simply removing the taillights, you can spray water directly on top of the fenderwells, and remove all that crap, right?
If you ever remove the carpet iver the wheelwell you can tell real quick what kinda cindition thay area is in:-( just repaired both sides on my bronco. And hurculined entire back half
