Hello sir, I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time to help me decoad my vin on my 1987 f800? I'm really interested in what ring and pinion I have and any other information would be appreciated. The vin is 1FDXT84A5HVA24828. Again thanks for your time.

AXLE code not within the VIN (as you can see), it's printed by itself on the Certification Label.

1FD = FoMoCo USA - Ford Truck - Incomplete Vehicle.

X = Class 7 Air Brakes, 26,001-33,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating range.

T84 = F800 (gas).

A = 7.8L (476 cid) V8 (gas).

5 = Check digit, FoMoCo use only.

H = 1987.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

A24828 = 1987 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.

C600 numbers please!

Hi Number Dummy,

Thanks for helping us all out with our data tag info!

It's greatly appreciated. You have helped me a few times. After many fortunes won and lost, and vehicles come and gone, I'm getting a c600 Friday. Owner says it's a 67, but after looking at another vin you decoded, I'm not sure.

Vin is C61DUA74064

Thanks I appreciate it!

I'm not sure either as this VIN could decode to either a 1967 or a 1976.

C61 = C600 Tilt Cab.

D = 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine.

U = Louisville KY Assembly Plant.

A74064 = 1967, assembled in January 1967 or 1976.

Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant (Assembly Plant code V) opened in 1969, where C Series were assembled from then on.

1968 was the first year that the door emblems have yellow reflectors made as part of them. No yellow reflectors, it's a 1967 or earlier.

Thank you Sir!

No reflector on door badge. It has the older trapezoid shape emblem the the FORD letters above it, so must be '67.

Also, the guy I bought it from thought it was a 390, so that was another fact you corrected.

Thanks again!

There's nothing that I can do since you have a Marmon-Herrington conversion.
