I recently purchased this 1997 F-800 thru an auction.


The door plate is as follows:

I was told by the nearest Ford Truck dealership that this F-800 had a Eaton-Fuller 5 spd and Rockwell 2 spd rear end.


In driving it home I discovered the following:
1) Speedometer was registering 75 mph in 5th gear and high side, with my foot on the floorboard, but my garmin and my son following in his car verified that I was only doing 55 mph on the down hills. This made a long trip without cruise control...Foot to the floor and my hand on my knee to keep the pedal to the floor.


2) PTO was removed by a previous owner but all of the other equipment is present to raise the 14 ft flatbed.


I need to do something to reduce the rpm's on the 5.9L Cummins to get around 1800 - 1900 rpm's so I'm needing help deciding the route to take either replacing the rear jug or transmission.

I am also finding out that Chelsea no longer offers a manual PTO for the Eaton-Fuller FS-5205A with an external PTO pump which this truck has. I know one can be built but I need to decide if I'm going to replace the tranny before I take that step.




Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

At the present time, I cannot decode anything newer than 1989, as microfiche viewer bulb burned out. New bulb on the way, as "She who must be obeyed" ordered it online.

I need a fuel sending unit for an 89 f250 7.3 idi diesel. This is for the rear tank behind the axle. My fuel gauge doesn't work and it's because the sensors are bad on the sending unit. I can't find one anywhere. I am in the Columbus, Ohio area

Truck is Yellow and if it was painted, it was Painted Yellow Everywhere which is confusing with the WB code as I assume that means a White of some sort.
I'm talking , factory type yellow door jams, inner door panels , ect ect.
Door ID tags rivited over the yellow.
My thinking is that the truck was a contract vehicle or CPO for maybe Penske.

Either way , Transmission info ? Axle ?
