Dave, I have never seen that pic before and I have seen hundreds of Patrol photos. Where did you find it? Could you please scan a copy of it at 300 dpi and email it me? Its a very cool pic! The photo looks like the interior of Patrols 1 & 2. My rig was out of Patrol 5. My email is kseafield@bellsouth.net
Your photo of the Chicago Buick fire chief's car is in fact a 1952 Buick Roadmaster, Model 72. It would be a twin to the one in the in-quarters black & white photo I posted . . . if not in fact the same car. Larger fire departments typically purchased these types of units in multiple lots - I know ours did, and still does. The Ford is from a bit later, 1957. My photo was one of many thousands I have collected over the years. I just happened to come across it while moving some material from one place to another, and I immediately thought of you and your truck.
Since I retired from the Syracuse Fire Department in September after 40 years of service, I find myself with a bit more time (finally) to try and organize some of the huge amount of "stuff" I have accumulated along the way, both from advancing through the ranks (I retired as Deputy Chief of Operations) and as the long-time Chairman of our Historical Committee. Among the "stuff" are boxes and boxes of photographs, many thousands all together. I am attempting to organize and catalog them all . . . who knows what else I may find? I will work on getting a copy of this one to you.
OHH YES!! the Ford would work too. Better in fact.
Either would roll over these gravel roads a lot better
than my trucks. Thanks for the pic's. Now on my
desk top slide show.

Dave, thanks for the info on the Buick. I know the 68-72 models real well. Congrats on your 40 years of service. I will have 30 years next April. Only 56 more months to go!! Boy, I hope you can find some more treasures in your thousands of photos. Thanks for a copy when you get a chance!

Very exciting news!!! My sister just arrived from Chicago and she brought a bunch of 8mm films from the late 30's. (Yellow boxes have 2 rolls each)They were donated to the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago. Their content: The Police and Fire Thrill shows from Chicago. My grandfather usually attended these shows and was often utilized to give speeches/ demos at those events. I am hoping that he is in some or any of these films. The Museum got estimates to convert them to DVD's .... around $500. They didn't want to spend the money so I borrowed them. If he is in them I will pay for the conversion. My next door neighbor has an old movie projector and I just asked him to pull it out. The suspense is killing me!!
