So far so good. Everyone is happy with his progress thus far so it looks like they'll keep him overnight for observation and he should come home tomorrow. They removed the arthritis and trimmed the herniated disk on his 4th lumbar vertebrae so maybe he can regain mobility and strength in his left leg.
I have an open warning for any 4.0L V-6 Ford owner. ......GET RID OF IT!!!!!!!!
We have an Exploder in the shop that the timing CHAINS went bad in. chainS, as in more than one. FOUR to be exact. The timing chain set is over $300. Every single tensioner and guide is shattered. To remove the timing chains, you have to pull the engine and disassemble the entire engine down to the short block. Just to do the timing chains!!!! What @$$#ole thought of this disaster??!!
Anyway, sorry to rant, but the shear stupidity of the design floored me. Just on the go, I thought of six different ways to route things that would have made much more sense.
I hope this week is slow so I can get the quarters patched up on the Ford.

I have something like that under the hood of the Ranger, knock on wood it stays together forever, but if it ever goes out, I think I have a EFI 302 to put in?
VAROOM, that would be fun. Alan you WILL get in on that swap for sure.
Dave glad to hear your dad's surgery went ok.
Cy the ol dent is looking good with those alum slots. Are you staying with the copper color?
Terry hello there CH how are you and the Mr's? Mine says "Howdy" to yours.
alan..i have a 91 explorer with a v/6...but the trans is out so i dont know anything about the engine yet..but it does run...those a4ld transmissions dont seem to be one of fords best idea's either..but read a few threads on here that say i can rebuild it to be strong..i hope so i plan on giving it to my daughter when i get it fixed......and dont want to be running to kansas city every-time it breaks down
That's why I loved my '97 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD. I put 250k on it and never any engine or tranny issues. It had just under 80k when I bought it and I never changed the tranny fluid.
Go ahead and buy it Brian, BUT we're gonna pull that one down and put a NEW oil pump, pick up, timing chain bearings, rings and gaskets in it. I'm only doing this ONE MORE TIME! Summit has complete kits for cheap. Like $250 or so for the 4.3L. Check 'em out.

I've done engine swaps in V-8 Exploders and rangers. They are ten times easier to work on than the 4.0L V-6. Yeah, I'll give ya' a hand on that one. It may take a day or two, but we'll get it done.
