Show off, over achiever....I feel for you.... not really. JK. Sux being a jack of all trades, AND a master of them too. That shop better be paying you$$$$$$$$$$cha ching.
Better than being in IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN, RIGHT?
You all better post up some pics of this up coming Ford truck work (body swaps/patch panels).
BTW I got mt flt itinerary for this sat, Spg to Atlanta to Germany to Lithuania, but at least I got upgrades on the long haul.
Rich with any luck it'll just be a few weeks, and the weather warmer than what it was three weeks ago.
Alan I feel for you, when I was at Cross (tire shop) for almost 9 years, everything I knew how to do... Just became my job! I started as a fleet mechanic, alignment tech for passenger car light medium duty trucks. Then added alignment Tech for Heavy Truck. Nothing under a 2 ton chassis. I did body and paint there too, as well as a truck driver. State inspector for motor vehicle.
But they really treated me great. But the place is working with you pretty well too. And that means alot.
I'm gonna get me another dose of Carpal Tunnle.
y'all have a good one. I'm gonna go stand by a fire. Got a little chilly today!
Unk Bob
Cerp/Brian I myself would have to take that $50 towards getting one of the engines you have buttoned up and running. You need to get something back on all fours to start that new job!
Unk Bob
I wasn't trying to brag, Rich. I just like getting stuff done. I feel like a slacker when not much gets done. I feel better if I can make some headway in a days work. We'll have Tim on picture duty when we do the body swap on Ka'Bluey. It looks like this weekend would be a great chance to get that knocked out Bob. You up for it? I'll bring my Superman suit so we can pull the cab and maybe get some paint on the back side/inside of the cab.
Alan I know that just bustin your chops, lol. UNK BOB is on pic duty NO LIFTING FOR HIM!!!!! That means NO CORNER OF THE CAB, remember his back, I do not want him down and out when I get back. He got my cab cart and the bed lift spacers today.
And YOU take it easy also there Alan, no one needs to get hurt on this project. I need everyone 100% for mine lol. Er.. I mean the FTE G2G/wrench fest when I get back home.
I think will all the years of knowledge and experience we all together can get quite a bit done in a good hard long day on "Her" rig, followed by some BBQ.
well i hope i am free and clear when ya'll start at rich's..would do me good to do some real work one of these days anyway ha ha ha ha ...well alan i counted the teeth on that center section i drug up the other day..it is 39-12 where that 42-10 come from i dont know musta been another rear i was messing with awhile back and got the papers mixed up..from what i can see spinning it, looks to be around 3:25 or so..but i dont have a chart on them to be sure...i did get the crossmeber for the swing bearing made now to go thru my driveshaft pile and see if i got a 54" shaft that will work, save me from building one
RC, you nailed it. 3.25 on the button. I think that'll be too tall of a gear for you. You said you wanted to go lower. Like I said, I think you're looking for 3.90's or better. Fuel mileage unloaded will be decent though. It'll drop quite a bit with a load on. To keep the mileage up with a load, you want to run up against the gears so the engine isn't struggling. ...but you already knew that.
alan i am thinking of trying it..since i already have it clean, painted and new seal...i know with the 31" tires and the 15% overdrive it will be a little lower than the best rpm for the powerband..but the mpg empty might make it worth while ..and just keep it in 3rd. (d) while towing till i hit the flatlands..if it dont work out i can always dig up another gear-set from a old standard shift 6 banger 9"..what's a few hours work here and there..ha ha ha ha
