On the Mitsu****ty, I'm avoiding it like the plague this weekend. After all the troubleshooting, I determined I need to use a scan tool and see if the cam and crank sensors are giving us a signal or if the computer is smoked. All the other signs are it has to be one of them things. The boy is in Springfield visiting his girlfriend.
I'll be in the shop where it's warm and dry working on them projects, might even get another wheel sanded and polished for the dent. Maybe I'll get the 70 ready for paint this weekend. Right now here at work between phone calls I'm working on the convertible top lift cylinder mounts for the Buick.
I had to go open my mouth about being jealous about all the Ford work going on lately...
I took the van in for an inspection this morning and the left ball joints failed and they wanted over $300 just to change the left side out. So I stopped by the local O'Reillys and picked up a set of Moogs for both sides and the ball joint press. Looks like I'll be at a buddy's place changing ball joints out in his barn tomorrow.
Re listed my truck on the list for $1500, got call less then ten mins later, he is coming to look today said he had cash. Also in my ad, I said trade for guns. He said he had an Ar 15 he wanted $700 in trade for! seems high, but I really don't know. told him $1500 was my bottom dollar on the truck, what could I low ball on the gun with out pissing him off?
I know it's none of my business, but if you're selling the truck to raise cash, why are you buying a gun?

A.) Look at the bright side...at least you'll be working on a Ford.
B.) You could always come up here and help me work on the Focus if you'd rather.
I guess I'm officially old now. Doc just put me on a low fat diet and a mild BP medication...durn. Everything else is in check. I guess it was bound to happen, my family is prone to heart a strokes on both sides. I made it 44 years before any concern was raised. Not to see if a decent diet helps me to get healthy and not need the BP medication. BP was 135/95, oops.
Well Tim's little red Cavalier was rear ended this afternoon. Really doson't look bad, nobody was hurt and that's the number one thing! School let out, and he was stopped and another student in a CHEBBY Tahoe full of friends hit a Chebby Trailblazer, then into an older Accord then into Tim's cavalier then him into a Jag. I can hear a young mans insurance JUMP from here!!!!! Gonna fix it ourselves, should be able to get enough out of it to paint the entire car for him. Wanting to do that this year anyway, the clear coat looks bad. Hope everybody's afternoon didn't envolve the son in an accident! Unk Bob
went through the harness under the truck today tore out the chopped up wiring the po did with WIRE CAPS (i hate that) followed it all the way the frame rail looking for breaks and rapping it in new tape found some exposed pieces in the back but knowing my luck it won't have fixed the problem. Was going over my front signals and wires and apparently i just shouldn't be allowed to mess with turn signals bulbs cause i broke yet another one by dropping it. DOH! Waiting to do the switch when i have a day where the woman is off work and the kid isn't in school so i can be sure i won't need the truck for anything because i don't know how long its going to take me. Sucks only having the 1 vehicle.
back to words that bother me...people that say warsh or warsher instead of wash and washer. I know a few on that do it :P
So you're still breaking blinker bulbs and haven't replaced the blinker switch? Maybe you got it this time.
Oh yeah...Electrocuted is not the same as shocked. Electrocuted means the victim got dead. At least that's my perception. Shocked means damn, that kinda bit me.

Not only is it a Ford, but I have somewhere reasonably warm and dry to work on it! Now I just need to take inventory of anything I could possibly need and load it in the van to take with. It looks like my darling daughter will be assisting me - she's the only one of the three that enjoys helping me work on things.
Ches, $700 for a used AR isn't too bad a deal if it's not a complete ragged out piece of junk. Would it come with any mags or ammo? Better have some trick parts without at least 3 or 4 mags or 100rds of ammo.
I'd offer him $1000+gun for the truck, but I'm a cheap *******.

Those ball joints are super easy. But we're jerks at work(GM dealer, go figure) and charge 5 hours to do all 4. We don't use a press, tool, whatever. We use a hammer, big bolt with nut, 1/4" flat steel, and a piece of tube with a crush sleeve welded in one end. Takes about 15 minutes ones the knuckle is on the ground to knock out the old and drive in the new.
DOH! Round 2!
I meant to also say that there's no need for pickle forks or the like. Just strike the knuckle where the tie rod goes through a few times with a BFH and the taper should pop out without damaging the boot.

That's what I'm counting on. The ball joints are only a couple of years old - they were replaced shortly before I bought it, but they didn't replace the boots and didn't lube them very well so I imagine most of the damage was done before I could grease them.
I'm hoping there's enough clearance in there to get to them without having to pull the rotors off the spindle. I'd prefer not to have to mess with the bearings if I don't have to.

My '97 Cougar failed Monday for both upper ball joints. However you can't just replace the ball joint. You have to replace the whole upper controll arm.
Engineers and their brilliance
My Mountaineer was the same way. Atleast the Cougar doesn't have the ABS and fuel lines right above the camber bolts
All that matters is Tim is ok, everything else is fixable. Sounds like the Tahoe kid was going way to fast and I hope its all on his insurance company.
Did the Tahoe kid get a ticket? But a long as everyone is ok, its a hard lesson to learn.
