i need some backing plates, brake hardware and drums for a big bearing ford 9" would like some new axles too..so i need to take apart bump side at the yard..or of it dont get warm i'll work on plumbing on the hearse.... i bought 25' of 3/16-1/4-5/15 and 3/8s steel line, plus all the fittings for the o-ring style to flare adapters to maybe get the hydroboost,gm pump and ford rack and pinion all on speaking terms..does anyone know off hand what size fitting's are used on a 98 explorer rack and pinion..and which line is pressure and which return..i just dont have one i can look at to check.. i wish this thing came with instructions.. ha ha ha ha
As I recall, it looks the same. I'll see if I can get you some pictures, too. I wonder if it would be easier to make pump mounts for the Ford pump than to try an adapt the hoses?
I wasn't trying to brag, Rich. I just like getting stuff done. I feel like a slacker when not much gets done. I feel better if I can make some headway in a days work. We'll have Tim on picture duty when we do the body swap on Ka'Bluey. It looks like this weekend would be a great chance to get that knocked out Bob. You up for it? I'll bring my Superman suit so we can pull the cab and maybe get some paint on the back side/inside of the cab.
Alan.... Oh yeah I'm up for getting something done on these trucks. Whip out that Superman Suit, get it dry cleaned and ready to go. Rich has allready tried to de-mote me to camera operator..... I have to do something, I hate being behind the curtains. IF it really clears and warms up like the weather guessers are saying. I'm gonna see about getting that front bumper off, and get the seat unbolted etc etc on the red truck!
Alan I know that just bustin your chops, lol. UNK BOB is on pic duty NO LIFTING FOR HIM!!!!! That means NO CORNER OF THE CAB, remember his back, I do not want him down and out when I get back. He got my cab cart and the bed lift spacers today.
And YOU take it easy also there Alan, no one needs to get hurt on this project. I need everyone 100% for mine lol. Er.. I mean the FTE G2G/wrench fest when I get back home.
I think will all the years of knowledge and experience we all together can get quite a bit done in a good hard long day on "Her" rig, followed by some BBQ.
Rich Buddy.... Thanks for the concern, and it's genuine, thanks. But I've been a worker too long. Can't just sit on my butt. i do watch what I'm doing. I just have to be carefull. I don't like the thought of a wheel chair either.
Unk Bob
Home from orientation and am already getting hit up for old for parts lol. Supposed to see if anyone has a old 9" they would be willing to part with and for how much. Guess one of the managers is working on a 30 something rat rod and wants ford parts for it.
i didnt get too far today..worked on hydrolic lines for a few hours...getting steel lines bent into tight places is a job.....i need to find some lines off a 02 explorer rack and pinion, dont really wanna buy new ones just to cut them up....they have weird fitting's on them that i dont have in any thing i have around here.. weather was too gloomy to work outside on getting the backing plates and brake parts i need..maybe tomorrow..
