Looking good as usual.

I ordered my setup and told them that I was dropping in a SBF (302) and mine is identical to yours but my springs are black. I think the black are for the Small Block and yours are big block.

SVT I'm glad to hear your truck is coming along. I'm dying to see some pics bro. My motor mounts are getting finished up now as I type. In the mean time a new opportunity came up. Check these wheels out!

I think I'm changing my lug pattern to 5x4.5 from 5x5.5 to get these because it's a deal i cant pass up. Called no limit and they are sending the new rotors for the fronts. Now do I adapt the rears or just spring for the disc rear conversion and change the lug pattern with it? If i do it now I can set up the booster and proportional valve for the 4 wheel disc all in one shot.

Intro Wheels
Exposed 5 Series

Twisted Vistas with BFG Rubber

Fronts are 20x8 with a small 1 inch lip
Rears are 20x10 with a large 3 inch lip

They are coming off of a very very very custom chevy pickup that my uncle has for sale. Dont ask me why he had a ford pattern but heck I will take it.

Damn snook those are sweet... I like the dip dish look and enough clearance to show off them big rotors we got.

I was debating going back to 5*5.5 but I already purchase a full rear end that is 5*4.5 so I am going to stick with it.

Pictures will be coming soon, hopefully this weekend

You could always redrill the rear axles for a 5x4.5 pattern if you didnt have any other reason to change anything else.

I thought of that and to also put adapters but why put adapters on drum brakes and why spend money on drilling out drum brakes. I might as well invest that money into a conversion kit that will also change my bolt pattern at the same time.

Here is what i was thinking im going to go with since my front brakes are vented and slotted I want the rears to be the same.

Hey Snook,
We put an Explorer rear end in our F1 - I think it cost around $300
& you had to change some of the mounts in the back but you get disc brakes, positrac, & a better gear ratio for highway. If you have the bed off for some reason it's not a huge amount of work to do.

I agree with putting the money toward the disc if that is your end goal. That kit looks very nice but don't forget you would still need to buy axles or have yours drilled possibly.

Ben thank you for the suggestion. I considered the explorer rear end also but I want vented slotted discs to match my fronts. I know i can convert the explorer but I also want to retain a strong 9 inch because my ultimate HP/TQ goal is in the 500/600 range and I don't drive lightly!

Also i don't want to have to order a new panhard rod mount from no limit and have it welded again with the time and measurement that goes into that.

Does anyone know what would be involved in changing the axles and gears in my 9"? Also what would be a reasonable cost to do so. I want to get it done along with a driveshaft in the next 2 weeks.

Links to threads and articles are very very welcome. Im catching up to the learning curve on all this stuff. I need to change the bolt pattern to keep the wheels I just picked up.

Initially I had planned on putting a 460 in mine. That was 2 years ago before my house burned and the price of gas went up. I had installed a Detroit Tru-trac limited slip diff, Strange 31 spline axles drilled for the 5x4.5 pattern and Wilwood disc brakes with the integrated parking brake. Install is easy enough. The only problem I ran into was the bolt heads for the wheel studs had to be turned down on a lathe to .150 thickness to clear the parking brake mechanism and I had to grind a little bit off an actuating lever inside the Disc hub. Pictures of it in my gallery. I had a thread about it located at:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...more-pics.html

Prices were not bad. I don't remember exactly because it was a while ago but, I can look for the receipts if you want specifics about parts before you pull the trigger on it.

Enjoy Hawaii.
