This is inspiring stuff! I am nearly at your point with mine, that is, getting ready for a maiden trip and wheel alignment. I hope I don't find anything as nasty as that bolt in my engine, but who know, I put it together so anything is possible.
P.S.
I will have to listen to the video later as I am at work and the engine sound would be a total giveaway! Heheh...
I've been slowly making progress on my 52. Cutting out rust, welding in patches, using too much bondo, etc, well this weekend I cleaned the garage and sprayed some primer. Kind of looks like a big gray barge now.
sorry for the large picture size not sure how to resize them.
I just went back and reread your thread from the start again cause it had been awhile, and wow. Dude are you kidding me, you have more persistence than most people of any age. I mean that as a total compliment, three motors , a few rear ends, bell housing, torque converter, hurdle after hurdle, and Im sure a boat load of $$$$$. And thru the whole thing you have stayed the course not letting anything get you more than just a little frustrated. My hat is off to you Sir, many folks would have thrown in the towel long ago. Oh yeah and your going to school at the same time, man "YOU ROCK" . I hope this is going to be your forever truck, and you never, ever sell it. Congrats Snook, you are going to have one great truck when your done, heck it already is.
The aod is a good trans.... When it's not in OD. Always remember to manually shift out of OD before hammering the gas. Once locked out of OD, you can drive it hard. No matter what shift kit, or rebuild, it has a tendency to lag coming out of od by itself, then fully engaging 2nd gear, and snapping the small od input shaft off. Please trust me on this, I've blown up more than my share of these. All of them blew up because of overdrive and downshifting by itself. Never once upshifting.
I am not quite sure what you are telling us. I have a shift kit from Baumann controls in S Carolina, it has a mod that increases the pressure to the OD band so that part works great but I am not clear on the "fully engaging second gear" please, set me straight
