your thread and one over on fsb has got me interested in ag/industrial type tires. found these on a boom lift today look like they would be pretty good off road tires. forgot the brand and name because i was in a hurry, but they were for 19.5'' rims.
If you've got the engine, axles and gear to handle the extra weight, I see no problem with ag/industrial/military tires. They won't perform as well as boggers, rockers or tsl's but for someone on a budget like me, a military tire with good tread will get me the same places a used bogger will. The new military tire will cost the same as a used/wore out bogger in the same size.
We scored those 42" turf tires on the rear of 4 linked F150 for $10 a piece. They came with 16x16's that we redrilled to fit the D60. They're 6 ply, flex well and did well in the mud.
We also got 4 of these from a local tractor garage. 2 of the wheels had centers and 2 of the wheels had the centers cut out. Also on 16x16's. We're gonna put these in the front.
there are a lot of cool tread patterns out there that probably work great, but they are on stiff carcass implement equipment. dig deep into industrial european tyres and you will see some badass **** that they run on unimogs. i'm talking almost close to bogger lugs with an actual tread life. pretty neat ****.
Don't wanna see my build thread be kicked off the first page by 8.8 info and leveling kit questions while my finances recuperate to finish my build. So here's some videos of some buddy's rigs.
Well, first of all, wtf is that tube body thing?l it looks like it did ok, but its fugly like nothing else I've seen.
It's a staight axle '83 Bronco with an '89 EFI 302 swap, then swapped to MAF with a Crane Cam. Built and spooled 1/2 tons. It does just about everything he asks it to. Not exactly the best thing around to look at but he built it himself.
