Mine is going to be around 119. ( I know... dont want to hear it)
There is a DOT permit we can get here that allows you to tow anything under 10' wide. Anything over 10' requires flags, oversize load tags, and lights. Its only like $20 a year for the permit. The only restriction is you cannot tow on holidays. But that is usually when we are at the events so it doesnt matter.
I forgot to mention that I need to lift the rear of the truck about 4" to make the frame level again. Gonna do a shackle flip and put in the leaves that were out of the packs when I bought the springs. Went from rake to wheely.
My brother and I got the gussets for the bushing mounts done today. I'm going to box the frame with 1/4 wall plate above the bushing tomorrow. We also made some custom swing shackles.
Also got the orbital and column adapter welded in. I had to weld the custom telescoping steering shaft to the column adapter. It has the factory style joint at the bottom and a Heep style joint at the top. The orbital mount will need more gusseting. I also still have to finish my front hanger cross member and gussets.
I mounted a 53 on our prototype "custom backspacing" rim and test fitted for clearance. It clears most everything great at ride height but at full flex, it may get into the body mount. If it does, I'll move it... again. Gonna start making 3 more wheels tomorrow.
I bought some paint today and tried it out on the custom wheel to see if I'd like it. It's flat olive and I think it's a little too bright for my liking. I'll have to see it in the day light to make my final decision. If it turns out good, that's the color the truck will be.
Driver's side tire tube is flat, swapped it out when I switched the rims. I'm gonna trim on the grill shell some. Probably eliminate the marker lights and the bottom part of the shell. Also going to swap over to circle headlights/bezels. I'm gonna hold off to dove the hood and grill.
Front spring, gusseted rear bushing mount and custom swing shackle
Front spring hangers and cross member. There will be diagonal 1.5" tubing from the bottom of the hangers to the center of the cross member as well as 2" tubing gussets from the back of the hangers to the frame.
3/4 x 10" u bolts, 1/4" spring plates and spring perches
Pinion brake setup
Custom backspaced Rockwell rim (in the making)
53 and custom rim in Flat Olive, gonna run this side out for split ring safety
But without the grill and head light guards cuz those are stoopid. It won't protrude into the tire area much and will have a receiver welded in where the winch plate is.
Then I'll put my epic yet useless D-ring on a receiver hitch!
That's a man hand and I'm not sure on the weight but it is heavy as all get out. That reminds me. I did take it upon myself to rob the digital weight scale out of the bathroom today to weigh my wheel/tire combo...
Haha! Scale says, 120, 233, 370, ERROR "CRACK"
So.. 400lbs give or take a few. Surprisingly the scale still works and has been secretly returned to its home.
