Can anyone with real 460 knowledge recommend a decent cam? I don't want to up the stall.
Take a look at the Comp X4262h. I really liked this cam in my first 460. You will need the 926-16 or 924-16 springs (cant remember off hand) and I upgraded the retainers and locks to Comp 7* units.
It worked well with a mildly ported set of D3s, Stealth intake, Holley 750 vac sec and 1 3/4 primary headers and shouldve made close to 400hp.

From what I know and have read on cam choices for my application I want:
Dual pattern (more lift on exhaust to offset poor head flow)
Big lift (.500-.530)
Low duration
More lobe separation (between 112-114) which is less overlap
All of these, in theory, improve low end torque. That being said, I have narrowed down my choices to 3.
3) A little less lift on intake, a little more on exhaust, less duration and more lobe separation, 1,000-5,000.
Not exactly sure how .503 intake/.535 exhaust would behave but this one was worth looking at: Lunati 61600 - Lunati Voodoo Camshafts - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Alpha's recommendation seems dead on but the 1st lunati cam I listed has some interesting numbers too. Any input?
While I like the x-4x4 cams from comp, I'm a little more partial to the xtreme marine line. Paul has my old XM-274 cam in his motor now. It works very well in a basically stock motor with soime porting done to the heads, a stealth intake, 850dp carb and headers. Very streetable with a little lope but gives bobs of torque right off idle. The downside is it's done by 5500 rpm. So if you live in the lower rpms, that line may be a better choice. Think of it this way, big tired/geared trucks with small motors are like boats with 50hp motors. You need instant torque right off the bat to get them up and moving.
Loop a piece of 5/16 fuel line with a little v-notch in it between the two vents. The b-itch will go almost verticle
Its basically a Holley with EVERY bell and whistle you can have plus billet everything. Its a great carb and well worth the money. I think you will find its similarly priced to a similar size/type Holley except without the features and bling. QFT also sells vac secondary and elec choke carbs
