The bumper is covering it up. It's going to have 1.5" diagonal "gusset" tubes from the bottom of the hangers to the center of the cross member. There will also be 1.5" diagonal gusset tubes from the back of the hangers connecting to the frame. I did say this a couple pages back. Thanks for the input!
I'm just worried that those hangers are going to rip off of the bottom of the frame if you don't extend them vertically all the way up the full height of the frame. The diagonal tubes are a good idea too, but I would still put a horizontal, either square tube or round like you have up top(ish), bar across the bottom of the mounts, kind of like where I drew it, as far down as possible, then do your "gusset" bars.
This is what I'm going for. I really don't want a huge cross member hangin down that low. You don't think they'll be strong enough completely welded and gusseted like this?
The red should work well enough, though I would like to see it how I originally drew it personally.
I think the blue is just masking the problem I eluded to earlier and that dillin suggested, you just arent grabbing enough meat of the frame IMO especially with just two bolts. Let me see if I can find a picture of a truck done like how I'd like to see it.
Alright, here's a pictue from 79ford4x4 of a sky shackle reversal, it shows kind of what I'm talking about with the frame.
However, like I said a while back if its all boxed together and welded together nice and secure you might not have any issues. You could even add gussets to it instead of reworking it to look like the one above. Your gussets would be on the inside of the framerail looking directly toward it head on, it would like kind of like L\ on the left side and /| on the ride side, and you could do it front and back of where the bolts go through, if that makes any sense.
Seems like it would be a good spot to put a reciever mount and hang that huge D ring from....
i bought one of those cheap hitch mounts a few years back at a garage sale for $5. planned on doing the exact same setup on something. still have it sitting for the right time.
