My suggestion would be to talk with a counselor, a member of the clergy, or a good friend you both trust. Leave family out of this! Maybe with the two of you talking with someone who is neutral, you will be able to come to a happy medium. If this does not work, or if she refuses, then split and don't look back!

well i guess since its all done, ill leave my $.02 for anyone in the future.

first, bill, so proud of ya. you should of done this a while ago.

second, you were too nice imo. from my experience, which is plentiful in this case, you ALWAYS feel bad. and im gonna be serious here. if your nice, shes gonna feel like she still owns you. shes gonna feel like since you want her back, she can get you to do anything. you need to end the last conversation with a big "F*** you, ya stinkin b***h!!" i ended my last 2 relationships with this method, and ive never looked back, unlike previous relationships. it may seem harsh, but its for the best.

Yeah Bill that crap does take awhile. There are different ways to cope with it. I wouldnt recommend the ways I did haha but they did make me smarter.

Whatever you do man, try your best to not break down and start calling her and stuff. If thats meant to happen, let it happen, dont force that.

Hang in there Bill and don't look back.

Go do some volunteer work or start a new sport. Whatever you like, but don't go backward. Just do what it takes so you don't dwell on history.

Sorry to hear that Bill, but it's expected I guess. Takes time.

I suggest you get a piece of paper and write out all the things about her that pissed you off. Just read this thread for reminders. When you get down thinking about how much you miss her, read that list and remind yourself why this had to happen. That should reassure you that you did the right thing.

I agree, but read it out loud so you can hear how you were being abused

Same here. Going on 27 years now.

Save this virtue for someone who is worth it.

I was single for 5 years before I met Kriss.
I dated a girl similar to your GF for two years and I couldn't turn around without her getting after me about something.
I knew it would never end and I was only 19.
NO WAY was I going to spend the rest of my life listening to that!
I called her to tell her that I didn't want to go through with whatever we had planned that night and she asked that I come over to the house to tell her face to face. When I arrived 1/2 hour later she was already drunk and yelling at me.
SEE YA!!!!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support. I'm reading this thread again. I have a job interview tuesday so hopefully I'll be getting a job soon. I hope that will help take my mind off it.

Bill, please focus on the future. You have a lot, and I do mean a lot more of a future now that you don't have someone dragging you down to her level. If you would go back to her now.....you would be her personal slave.

Getting a job will help out for sure. It really takes your mind off everything. Just keep looking for a hobby. Soon enough you'll start feeling better and wanting to go out and meet someone new (and better).
