Another thing is to get rid of all her stuff. That was what I've done in the past. Made a big bonfire pile and had a few friends over and had a little party. It sounds kind of dumb and immature, but it really clears your head. You don't have to sit in your house with a bunch of things that remind you of her. I've only got one thing left from my longest relationship that I just can't bring myself to throw away. I have no idea why but I do. It still messes with my head. Just sits in a box under my bed. Someday it'll burn and I'll officially be done.

Strange enough but the most comforting thing about all of this is knowing almost every man has already gone through this. You guys have no idea how strangel comforting it is to know I'm just one in a million.

The main thing, motorsports, is all the freaking pictures. It killed me but I finally put up her pictures and got rid of the ones in my wallet. I still have a picture in my truck and a bracelet she gave me that I kept hung in my truck. A lot of her clothes are over here, like her cowgirl hat. She has a ton of my clothes including my favortie Ford hoodie. I guess I can kiss that good bye.

It's not too bad but sometimes I'll see something and it just stabs me right in the heart. The pictures are what really kill me though. Holy crap it hurts. I'm getting better though.

It's nice to know I'm just another guy. I know that sounds weird but man it's comforting. I guess this was bound to happen.

By the way, I don't mean to sound insensative to the rest of you. I feel bad for everyone here who has had their heart broke (almost every one of you, it sounds like).

I had a crazy X who emailed me after we broke up and wanted to get her stuff she wrote something like "before you and your friends light it on fire and dance in the street"

I replied "It's emails like this that make your suggestion a reality" , promptly lit it up and sent her a picture.

Wow, we've got a vindictive lot here, LOL.

Even though they may have it coming, I think you will be doing yourself a favor if you try to be civil and polite. Firm, but polite. Maybe not now, but someday you will look back and be glad you acted like the adult. Plus, being polite will usually just make them feel worse about how they treated you.

I agree. and when he wins the $100,000,000 lottery, he can hire someone to be polite to her

hey, guys....lots of GREAT advice....STILL!!!

but you do have to remember that us gals also go through the tough stuff....it is NOT always the guy getting scheidt on!!! been there done that.....and I agree that piling it up and burning it is FANTASTIC.....

imagine: 10 years in a relationship, cards, stuffed animals, all that mushy crap that he just HAD to buy for me....instead of spending time on me, he felt spending his money would be a great substitute....can you imagine the crap I had piled up?? I was very nice about it though....after I set it out in the yard, I advised him he had until the next afternoon to come get what he wanted.....then there would be a bonfire......

not all of us are cold heartless bitches, some of us actually have feelings and are in touch with the masculine side!!

I am learning a lot here.....and have heard this advice myself personally from a bestest buddy of mine~~

STAY STRONG~~~~

I'll share what has helped me in the past when I was going through a similar situation. A 71 Chevelle. Yep, Chevys are good for something. I spent many late nights and weekends restoring a Chevelle for a freind of mine. This thing was a real basket case, so I had plenty to do. I had already started the project prior to our breakup. It kept my mind busy and it always gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment when I turned out the lights every night. If I did'nt have something to keep me occupied, I probably would've went nuts just sitting around thinking about it all the time.

You'll be okay, it will get easier, time lessens all wounds,

If you shared any passwords to email/facebook/twitter/whatever with her as a sign of trust, get off here NOW and change them immediately! she may mess with things, delete things, send nasty things in your name, go NOW!

tell everyone you know that you two are done to prevent her trying to "borrow" something that she says you said was okay.

the golden rule: treat others how you would like to be treated

http://incredimazing.com/static/medi...GoldenRule.jpg

also, I find this song helps me to get through/over "strong times" and back to normal:

YouTube - ROCK & HYDE - Dirty Water

Rock and Hyde - Dirty Water

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

I swear I've seen your face before
It's been inside my open door
I'm sure I played this game before
Pay a little bit now then later more

Angel, angel, ring them bells
Ring them bells
Something is wrong it doesn't belong
And it's not natural to sing that song

And if I wash my hands in your dirty water
Will your religion make me clean
Oh oh oh oh
And if I wet my feet in your dirty water
Will I be blind for all I see

A lover would be more concerned
When I needed you, your head was turned
Seems like you do what you can
To make me feel a guilty man

Angel, angel, ring them bells
Ring them bells
Something is wrong it doesn't belong
And it's not natural to sing that song

And if I wash my hands in your dirty water
Will your religion make me clean
Oh oh oh oh
And if I wet my feet in your dirty water
Will I be blind for all I see

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

And if I wash my hands in your dirty water
(Repeat to fade)

wow. great advise for life. Be Careful

Be careful of your thoughts
For your thoughts become your words

Be careful of you words
For your words become your actions

Be careful of your actions
For your actions become your habits

Be careful of your habits
For your habits become your character

Be careful of your character
For your character becomes your destiny

I hear ya man. I had four years of pictures eveywhere I turned. Just stacks of them. In my house, garage, shop, at work, on my computer, trucks, everywhere. I couldn't get away from them. I still find them here and there years later. I burned four years of my life that night... pictures, letters, postcards, gifts, clothes, ticket stubs, pretty much everything we did together. The only things I didn't burn was the ATV that I bought for her and the ring I had hidden in my toolbox. I sold those hahaha. She managed to get away with my most comftorable John Deere sweatshirt. Farm life has broken that one in well. I think I miss it more than her. What's left of our "common friends" say that she still wears it.

Holy crap man.
That really sucks. I'm sure my ex will be wearing my Ford hoodie when she's mackin' with the next joe. When you find those pictures, do you pause to look at them or do you automatically chuck them? I've got her pictures put up I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. I was JUST about to buy her a promise ring, too. I'm glad I didn't now. I guess you were ready to ask her to marry you??

Do you ever see your ex? Like ever? Do you ever run into her at the store or anything?
