Pretty close to same setup I was pulling. Nice looking rig. Below is my junk, and the reason for the PSD. Definitely need some air bags.
Nice looking rig too!!!
I can certainly see why you need the 450!!!...you have the right tool for that trailer...it is nice to see a properly sized TV for a trailer...we've all seen the other end of that spectrum on the roads!
What rear axle do you have? With my Dana 80 I don't have to inflate my bags unless I load above 8000 lb on the flatbed.
It's a Dana 110. Yours come factory with the flatbed or did you add it after? It's hard to say the difference. If from the factory maybe you have heavier springs in the rear than I do. I'm guessing the springs in mine are still trying to provide something resembling "ride quality" since it's a "bling bling" truck and not a straight up work truck. Two or 4-wheel drive? Mines 4x4 and unloaded it sits pretty much level so any significant weight and it immediately starts to show some squat. Two and a quarter ton in just about ANY pickup truck is going to have an affect.
I'm hoping to head out west this summer, but I don't think I can do those 12-14 hr drives you mentioned. "I" can do it, but at 4 and 5 yrs old I don't think my two girls could handle it. They're good for about 8-9 hrs tops and then hell comes to earth. This past summer we spent mostly east. Ohio, PA, W. Virginia, Virginia, N. & S. Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. I figure that was a pretty good start.
An EXCELLENT START!!!
My girls were 7 and 9 when we started doing our long RV trips...so you've got time!
They are 11 and 13 now and after next summers travels will have 40 states under their belts already!
My secret (well no secret) is the bumper pull TT and the SUV...THREE rows of seating means they are SEPARATED! ...separation means much less chatter in the cab!!!
Keep up the great work and build them up slowly...I find MORE electronics on these long trips really HELPS too!...hehe...
