If you happen to have a personal problem with me, take it somewhere else. Or, you can PM me and I'll give you my address so we can discuss things in person at a time of your choosing. I'm done responding to your postings, so from this point forward, don't respond to mine, even in the third person like you like to do.
I don't need to PM you. My problem with you is that you think every post is an attack on you or your truck just because someone disagrees with you. Then you get all riled up because someone says something like "most psd's" came with whatever it was. Yeah, 4 years is a big chunk of time. But so is 9 years of the 99-07 models. Then throw in the fact that F series sales have gone down quite a bit every year since 07 it would seem to reason that there are more of the 99-07 models on the road than the last 4 years worth. Twice as many years, more sales per year="most" to me.
3.73s could be had on an '08 SRW 6.4L truck, so the 3.73 rear end comments are still valid for the 6.4L trucks.
Yep, I see that...they seem to have stopped at job 3 in the 08's though...don't know why. I have the 3.55 and would be just fine with the 3.31 as far as I can tell.
Mine's a Job 3, built in March of 2008 if I remember right. The 2009 trucks were changed to only offer 3.31 and 3.55 gears.
3.31 gears would put it at a 12% torque disadvantage in any particular gear compared to the 3.73s, and 3.55s would be at less than a 5% disadvantage. I can see either ratio towing lots of weight without any problems.
Although it's kind of neat being able to climb 3-4% grades on the highway at 19,500 lbs in overdrive, so I don't mind my 3.73s!

Neat till you get to diesel pump and have to pay for that.
I am pretty annoyed with my PS screaming at 3000 rpm doing 75 mph
The only thing that sweetens the situation is the fact that even with 10 k empty weight and high differential ratio I still get better mpg than Bill

Hummm.... I pretty sure that is over your towing capacity for that truck, I don't have the charts for an '08 on hand. That is well into the DRW range. You probably don't care much, but if you where in an accident, your insurance company may care.

If that were the weight of just the trailer you'd be correct. It'd take an F450 to pull those kind of weights legally. Trailer weight including what was on the tongue was somewhere between 10,500-11,000 or so.

I may be mistaken, but I think Tom is talking about 19,500 gcw and not that he is towing a 19,500 lb trailer. Either way, the tow ratings from Ford are just a recommendation. The GVWR and RAWR are the two legal numbers to worry about.
