BTW, I agree with you 100% on "sleepers" at the drags. There's a local shop here, Ponci's Diesel Service, run by Brad Ponci and his Dad, and Brad's built a VERY stock-looking Dodge diesel that runs 10's. Aside from slicks on all 4 corners (and no interior), it sits at stock height, wears original paint and is fairly quiet. Yet once he stomps the pedal, it's un-flippin'-real. I've seen videos on YouTube of it running at Redding, but due to a lack of noise and wheelspinning drama, it looks slow on video, but trust, me it's the fastest stock-looking truck I've ever seen in my 30+ years of going to the drags.
EDIT: Here it is. This is at Samoa (Eureka) and I think the announcer is reporting an 11:19 or 11: 90 ET (I can't tell which), but trust me, it's MUCH faster now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkoQkKu-IFI

There will be no posting on here of anything that makes a dodge look good lol. I would like to see some of those diesel trucks run, but truck racing isn't big around here. I live about 10 miles from Bristol dragway and have been running up there for about 10 years and have only seen two or three trucks total. One was a stock v10(did not end well) and the other was a rusted out datsun with a twin turbo nissan engine that was running in the 9's. I got my a$$ handed to me by the datsun lol.
I would think so, with all the horrible things I have done to it, how bad could running it foot to the floor and steering straight for 15-16 seconds really be?
My V10 would probably fire up, but I'm off work this week and it costs too much to drive!! Ahahahahahahahahahahah!!!! First I'm glorifying Dodges, now I'm giving the PSD guys hope!!!! I'm losing it I tell ya...
Well, today it is 24 degrees below zero and most of my Diesel buddies are having to deal with fuel gel. My V-10 fires right up.
It got down to 18 degrees here two days ago and 22 last night and I drove my diesel to work both days. Never poured a drop of anti gel additive in it since I've had it.
Well, for starters, he thought it would be a good idea to run the 1/4 with his tailgate down. Then he decided to launch by revving it to what sounded like at least 5k rpm. When he popped the clutch the back end hopped a few times, his tailgate bounced with it and came loose and ended up beat all to heck. After about the 5th hop he lost a u-joint and his driveshaft got spun around several times and beat the bottom of his truck before falling out on the track. Wasn't anything that was the engines fault, but still didn't end well for him.

So, he revved it to the 5K limiter and dropped the clutch?
I did that to my old 460 F350 DRW with 4K in the bed, the brand new clutch blew and it was only 3 months old.

Dude, you missed it. I said 24 BELOW zero. were talking more than 40 degrees difference here.
