Know what's guaranteed to double torque, tripple mileage and ensure everlasting relabilty in your engine regardless of it being gas, diesel or plutonium-powered? Just start a pointless debate on the internet...
Apparently bullsh** is better than biofuel or additives. There's an endless supply of it too.
It is actually a 5.4, but pretty much the same thing. Now that you mention "stirring the pot" I think I hear Bill's mom coming. She thinks you are talking about food
Hmmm, I skimmed the last few pages, but I could have sworn this was a V10 vs. psd argument. LOL my bad!
With the V10, you basicly gas up and go. Normal maintenance, 6 qts of oil every 3K etc. With the PSD it's 14 qts of special oil , test strips for the coolant, draining the water out of the fuel filter, cold weather problems. Also in AZ, diesel fuel is about 10 cents a gallon more than Unleaded. Ford rates the V10 just a tad more in towing capacity. (actually the weight difference between the V10 and PSD) In therory, there shouldn't be any difference. I'd give the nod to the PSD for heavyduty towing.

Some of us have a "newer" PSD so don't need the test strips, but I need an extra quart of oil on top of that (don't short me my extra $4 ). Sure I drain a pint of fuel every month to get all the water out (you would think diesel would be cheaper because the negligible refining process compared to unleaded ) so there's some more money down the drain (literally), but that's nothing compared to the fuel/water filter I have to replace every 10K or so ($20-$50 per filter, depending on where you buy it from). Couple that with the fact that a 4x4 CC SB diesel has a slightly reduced towing compared to the other configurations and.......wait a second, I'm supposed to be arguing FOR the PSD!
Basically it comes down to this simple equation:
Low IQ + Lots of extra money = Happy diesel owner!!!
-or-
Loud injector cackle + No spark plugs = Man Points
By combining these two equations you get the following result:
I was actually in my Bronco, which was not a fun drive. I had to floor it to pull out and get up to speed. When I saw a hill coming up I just sped up to about 70 to keep from having to downshift.

With my PSD I just "gas" up and go too. My "special oil" is in the same aisle and on the same shelf as the v10 oil, but there is one difference. It's about $1 cheaper per quart than the v10 oil. Test strips cost about $1 each and coolant only has to be checked every 25k miles. For most people that's about every 5 years. Diesel fuel may be 10 cents per gallon more expensive, but my PSD gets much better mpg's than the v10, so I pay less per mile. Haven't had any cold weather issues with mine yet either.
