Heya peoples.
Man I am having fun trying to weld some damn galvanized sheet metal to some heavier iron! The welds dont wanna stick to the iron, and when i turn the welder up, they wanna burn through the sheet!
I guess I should read this guys book just to see what all the hoopla is about. I've listened to him on the radio a couple of times, and most of what he says just sounds like common sense. I don't agree with his no credit card rule, but I pay my balance off every month. It all boils down to save some money for the unexpected, and don't spend money before you make it.
That advice is older than he is. He was just smart enough to realize no one was following it, and capitalize on the opportunity to spread old news. I do agree that most of what he says is sound advice
How many here have read this book?
When i got my first actual tax payin job (did lots of landscaping, construction and sorts before I was 18 but it was all under the table.) I was making 500-600 a week a s akid with no bills! I saved up 2,200 and it saved my but. Actually had planned to buy a truck with it but some **** happened. Savings is a really good thing. My best investment though is my first 10 percent always goes to God.
Hey every one! Hows every ones night so far? I am about to go shoot the dealer ship!!!
That great an experience, Nick?
My night is good so far. I'm going to take a shower and head to bed soon.
I've got my license test tomorrow and I've got to be there for 8:00 and the place is close to an hour away. Should be fun since I'm used to getting up at 7:30 or so.
Ive read his book, and taken his Financial Peace course. Chris you are correct that 98% of what it tells you is all common sense, but sometimes it takes someone whacking you up side the head to make you realize that you are not being senseable. I was guilty of trying to keep up with the Jonses, but then I realized the Joneses were shoulder deep in debt with little chance of getting out of it, and I did not want to be that way. The only things that I owe for right now are my house, my camper, and the little white tuna can Suzuki.
During the school year I don't have to be anywhere til 8:00 or so.
During the summer I'll usually get to the site at 6:30 and work until 6:00 or so. It makes for a long day. That's one of those nice things about school even though the rest sucks. I actually get to sleep.

I hear ya...last year while I was workin at the fram and the warehouse...I had to start at 7 and sometimes didnt leave the farm until 8 or 9 depending on when melons quit comin in.
Swingshift. Two weeks of nights and two weeks of days every month. Every other Fri-Sun off. Not too bad having a three day weekend every other week, but the constant switching back and forth between nights and days stinks.

I am in the same situation.
No debt but for what I owe on the house and the 5th wheel.
I buy everything with money saved up before the purchase.
I have been able to buy with cash some top of the line appliances for Kriss.
$5000.00 roof for the house.
$29,000.00 F-550 to pull the 5th wheel with.
The list goes on and on in the 27 years that I have been married to Kriss and us both practicing this lifestyle.
All while putting money into savings for retirement, etc.
House will be paid off in three years or less and then that money is going to double up on the camper payments and then I will be DEBT FREE.

Same here, and I tithe on the gross before taxes, not the net.
Strange thing happened when started doing that, my income went up more than before and it more than covered the added "expense".
You cannot outgive the man upstairs!

I better stop there or this thread will end up in the Club.
