Thanks for the info guys, some great advice from all of you. FYI- work is slow around here, some of the biggest guys in town were at the "Mandatory pre-bid meeting", and there was at least 25-30 guys there. Some I knew, most I had never seen, pretty sure they were out of county. After going over the paperwork, I think it's time to pass. I cant afford to be bidding a project like this for the next week or two and miss out on jobs I have already secured. The other issue is the job wont even start until October so not sure how you cover your butt on material prices...The more I consider the job, the more my gut says walk away......
Exactly Tristan. I cant exactly afford to stockpile all the materials "just in case". On to better things! Like jobs that pay right away!! Like the never ending cabinets........lol
That works for me. Give me a call when it's good for you.

You have to listen to your gut. A couple of times I haven't and I really regretted it.

You my friend have something that is really lacking in today's world and that is common sense. You are exactly right. I'm not a contractor but I dabble enough with small stuff. It would stink to bid a job that starts in the fall and have material costs rise about 15-20% between now and then. Is there any allowance for this built into the bidding, contract, etc? Just wondering. Regardless, I think you made a great decision to take up the jobs you have now. They'll carry you through and help you build your client base.
