Thanks Mr. King of Tractors. This conversation of course got me curious so I did a little research. Porsche actually made an air-cooled diesel tractor in the 50's.

Those Germans, just gotta be different! Something else interesting I learned, is that the Volkswagen Beetle and Bus actually used an air cooled engine.

Pinzgauers are freakin cool, I knew a few guys back in CO that had a few that were highly modified for wheeling.
Have you ever seen a Tatra? They are air-cooled vehicles too. I ran into one for the first time this spring when I volunteered to pull that parade float.

The AGCO Allis 5600 is a liquid-cooled diesel and is American made, but AGCO was formed when Allis bought Deutz...so take that for what its worth. Still German technology.
